  • Patent number: 6945388
Abstract: A product conveying chain includes a top plate fixed to a base chain. The base chain is formed from a series of pairs of inner sidebars pivotally connected to adjacent pairs of outer sidebars. The top plate is fixed to the base chain, and has a trailing edge adjacent a following pair of sidebars. The trailing edge of the top plate includes at least one bump for engaging the following pair sidebars to restrict articulation of the following pair of sidebars relative to the top plate compared to a top plate without the at least one bump. In one embodiment, the top plate includes a leading edge adjacent a preceding pair of sidebars. The leading edge includes at least one notch for receiving the preceding pair of sidebars to allow increased backward flexure of the conveying chain compared to a conveying chain having a top plate without the at least one notch.

  • Patent number: 6932211
Abstract: A modular conveying assembly includes a conveyor belt module for use with in-line rollers. The module includes first and second hinge member. The first hinge member extends forwardly in the direction of conveyor travel, and includes a first opening defining a first space extending along an axis transverse to the direction of conveyor travel for receiving a first hinge pin. The second hinge member extends in a direction opposite to the first hinge member, and includes a second opening defining a second space extending along an axis transverse to the direction of conveyor travel for receiving a second hinge pin. A stub extends from the first hinge member transverse to the direction of conveyor travel, and surrounds at least a portion of the first space for rotatably mounting a roller thereon for rotation around the first space.

  • Patent number: 6905416
Abstract: A flexible coupling is provided to connect a flange on a drive shaft to a flange on a driven shaft. Circumferentially spaced fastening means provide bores through the coupling through which bolts can be passed to connect it alternately to the one and then the other flange. Adjacent fastening means are interconnected by link and washers are positioned at opposite ends of the stack of links at each fastening means. In accordance with the invention the washers are formed with peripheral grooves which will be entered by the plastics material forming the body of the coupling, thus locking the washers against being expelled when bolts are subsequently passed through the bores.

  • Patent number: 6893160
Abstract: A wedge-type bearing assembly that is easily dismounted from a shaft includes an adapter sleeve, an inner ring, and a lock nut. The split cylindrical adapter sleeve wraps around a shaft, and has a radially outwardly facing surface including a tapered section. The threaded inner ring encircles the adapter sleeve, and includes a radially inwardly facing surface engaging the tapered section of the adapter sleeve. The lock nut is fixed axially relative to said the sleeve and threadably engages the inner ring, wherein rotation of the lock nut in one direction of rotation draws the inner ring over the adapter sleeve to fix the inner bearing ring relative to the shaft, and rotation of the lock nut in a second direction urges the inner ring off of the adapter sleeve to release the inner bearing ring relative to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6843727
Abstract: A flexible coupling assembly adapted for mounting on the ends of a shaft in coaxial alignment. The coupling includes a pair of annular hubs. A plurality of radially outwardly opening receptacles are spaced around the circumferential edge of each hub. A molded flexible belt is wrapped around the circumferential edge of both hubs, and has a plurality of spaced resilient teeth extending from one side of the belt. Each tooth is received in a pair of aligned receptacles formed in the hubs. The belt is molded with a length greater than the circumference of the circumferential edge, and the belt is cut to a length such that there is no more than one tooth per pair of receptacles. An annular retainer is slipped over the belt to retain the teeth in the receptacles. The retainer is held over the belt by at least one deformable pin extending from another side of the belt, and the pin is received in a circumferential groove formed on an inner surface of the annular retainer to retain the retainer over the belt.

  • Patent number: 6758327
Abstract: A conveyor drive assembly including an elongated shaft having a first and second end and method of operating the conveyor drive assembly which reliably controls the speed of each end of the drive shaft and minimizes unequal loading of the conveyor belt. The method includes detecting the rotational position of the first end of the shaft, detecting the rotational position of the second end of the shaft, determining the rotational position of one of the first and second ends relative to the other of the first and second ends, and then rotationally driving at least one of the first and second ends of the shaft to maintain the rotational position of one of the first and second ends relative to the other of the first and second ends within a predetermined range. Advantageously, the present invention provides a conveyor drive assembly for use with wide conveyors which reliably controls the speed of each end of the drive shaft and minimizes unequal loading of the conveyor belt.
