    Abstract: A materials grinding and processing machine includes a sizing concave having a sizing screen contained therein. Ordinarily, the sizing concave is pivotally connected adjacent its upper end to the frame of the materials processing machine. To replace the sizing screen, a temporary pivotal connection is made between the lower end of the sizing concave and the frame. The upper end of the sizing concave is permitted to swing away from the frame to provide access to the sizing screen from above. A hydraulic cylinder, coupled between the frame and the sizing concave, can be selectively attached at different points on the sizing concave to move the sizing concave and improve access, from above, to the sizing screen.

As grinding drum is rotatably disposed inside of a shroud adjacent the exit of the hopper to grind the ends of materials to be ground as they enter the grinding chamber and to continue to grinding as the materials are carried downwardly toward the bottom rear of the grinding chamber. The bottom of the shroud is open to receive an adjustable transverse shear bar assembly that is pivotally mounted to provide adjustment of the upper edges of the transverse shear bars with respect to the materials grinder drum.

    Abstract: A concrete mixer truck frame is distorted when a concrete truck traverses a rough road and when the vehicle turns. Flexible mounting of pedestals which support the mixer drum accommodates distortion of the frame yet provides a rigid platform for the mixer drum. Each pedestal includes an upright frame with lower ends connected to side frame members with self aligning bearings. A central portion of a pedestal is flexibly connected to an upper part of a diagonal link with self aligning bearings. The truck frame includes "C" shaped cross members connected to the side frame members. A lower end of the diagonal link is flexibly connected to one of the cross members so that the load passes through the shear center of the "C" shaped cross member.

    Abstract: A slip-form paver is provided which is capable of paving a lane of concrete or other material in much the same manner that asphalt is spread as a top paving surface for a roadway. Spreading and levelling means are not restricted to the space between the traction members of the tractor portion of the machine, but are arranged behind such members so that the slab may be wider than, or offset, with respect to the distance between such traction members. The mounting of the final paving tool is capable of lateral movement independently of the steering of the tractor members so as to enable it to turn on a different radius. The elevation of this tool may also be controlled from a string line or the like so as to provide the desired pavement surface contour.

    Abstract: An off-the-road landfill compactor has large wheels with two piece cutting cleats the inner portion of which are attached to the outer surface of the wheels. The outer, replaceable portion of the cleat is secured to the inner portion by bolts which are directed toward each other but at an incline toward the center of the wheel so that tightening the bolts wedges the outer cleat portion into tighter contact with the inner portion. The bolts engage fastening means retained in recesses provided in the inner portion of the cleat.

    Abstract: A hydraulic system for an auxiliary load transfer device pivotally connected to the rear of a truck includes a sequence valve for preventing the build-up of excess fluid pressure in the main hydraulic line between a pump and a hydraulic cylinder that operates the load transfer device. The sequence valve is operable in response to the difference in pressure between the main hydraulic line and control pressure that controls the output pressure of the pump. The sequence valve opens to direct fluid from the main hydraulic line to tank to prevent the rear wheels of the truck from weaving or wandering during travel.

    Abstract: An off-the-road vehicle has wheel sets of the same or different forms such as rolls or differentially driven wheels with a hydraulic motor and gear reduction drive for each wheel set. An engine driven variable displacement fluid pump is fed by return lines from the motors, and a fluid control system is provided including a valve associated with each motor and a restricted delivery line from each valve to its associated motor, an unrestricted delivery line from each valve to the other motor, and a restricted line connecting the two motors. Each valve is biased toward a first position by a spring and fluid pressure at the associated motor and has ports connecting the pump and restricted line to the associated motor in a first position, each valve being movable toward a second position by pump output pressure and having parts connecting the pump and the other motor through the unrestricted lines in the second position.

    Abstract: A self-propelled refuse or trash compactor is provided at each cleated drum wheel with a fixed cylinder which extends around the axle housing of the compactor to the periphery of the drum wheel. A minimum operating clearance between the cylinder and the periphery of the drum wheel is allowed and is located such that there is no adjacent structure which may guide a discarded length of cable, for example, into said clearance. The fixed cylinder and drum wheel are also related so that the clearance is in the form of a labyrinth and the passage of the cable in any case and other debris in general through the clearance is prevented.
