  • Publication number: 20130209596
Abstract: Disclosed is a mixture to create expandable curing bladders for use in the curing process of rubber compositions such as tires. The bladders have an increased service with the addition of the aramid fibers to the rubber polymer. The aramid fibers increase the tear resistance of the cured product allowing for an increased number of expansions and contractions of the rubber polymer during the curing process. The use of these aramid fibers allows the tire curing bladders to cure more tires without changing out the bladder increasing the cost efficiency of the tire curing bladder.

  • Patent number: 7135514
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and product that provides a dust-free homogeneous dispersion of zinc diacrylate in polybutadiene for use in golf balls. More specifically, the invention relates to a dispersion of zinc diacrylate in a special high-cis grade of polybutadiene commonly used by golf ball manufacturers. We have found that such a dispersion of ZDA can be made by using specific processing promoters, which not only allow the manufacture of the predispersion, but have a beneficial effect on the final properties of the golf ball. The processing promoters of the present invention enable more uniform dispersion of the ZDA into the polymer matrix, eliminate sticking to the mixer rotors, provide improved extrusion and pelletizing rates, as well as function as a separant to greatly minimize, if not totally eliminate, massing of the pelletized product.

  • Patent number: 6515057
Abstract: A method and product which provides a solid, non-powdered homogeneous form to liquid and low melting point solid compounds which facilitates stability, storage, dispersability and handling and which may be added directly to formulations requiring the liquid compound or low melting point solid compound. The liquid or low melting point solid ingredient is combined with a binder which is comprised of at least a wax and thermoplastic polymer. During the method of forming the product, both the binder and the liquid compound (or low melting point solid compound) pass through a liquid phase during which they are mixed. The product is then formed and cooled.

  • Patent number: 6323260
Abstract: Particles are hydrophobicized by treatment with a compound containing amino and silane groups. The invention is particularly useful for treating hydrophilic inorganic particles. The treated particles can be used, for example, as a compound agent for polymers. The production and use of a predispersion or concentrate comprising a major amount of the treated particles and a binder is also described.
