  • Patent number: 5876689
Abstract: During the manufacture of milk of lime by the suspension of lime hydrate which has a large specific surface and was manufactured with the use of organic solvents and/or organic additives, a stable foam forms which can cause problems in the equipment. This foaming can be prevented during the suspension of the modified lime hydrate in water by the presence of finely-powdered activated cokes.

  • Patent number: 5229097
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of a usable or storable product with a low susceptibility to elutriation by water. This product is produced from residues containing halides obtained from a waste gas cleaning process. The halide containing residues as components of a crude dust having a CaO/SiO.sub.2 ratio between 1.7 and 3.4, are subjected to a thermal treatment to produce chlorosilicates. The waste gases formed during the thermal treatment for chlorosilicate production are subjected to a preliminary cleaning, and are then transported to the waste gas cleaning system of a refuse incineration plant. The residues occurring during the preliminary cleaning can be added to the crude dust.

  • Patent number: 4636379
Abstract: A process is provided for producing dry calcium hydroxide by slaking finely divided or ground, softly burnt lime by carrying out the blending of slaking liquid consisting of 30 to 50 parts by volume water and 70 to 50 parts by volume organic solvent with the lime at a temperature below 45.degree. C. in a mixing vessel, subsequently transferring the reaction mixture into a main reaction vessel where the mixture is heated by means of a heating device to a temperature of from 50.degree. to 70.degree. C., and carrying out the final reaction in another reaction vessel. In the mixing vessel, the ratio of lime to slaking liquid is selected in a way such that a final reaction temperature of 85.degree. to 110.degree. C. is reached in the final reaction vessel.

  • Patent number: 4249894
Abstract: An improved blast furnace for heating granular materials is provided of the "CCR" type which includes two similar stacks disposed side by side, one of which heats the goods by direct current while the discharging gases escape from the other parallel unheated stack in a countercurrent manner. Both of the stacks are provided with an annular channel between the heating and cooling zones thereof which is formed by hollow generally cylindrical members which are connected with each other by cross-intersecting channels. These cylinders are suspended in the enlarged bosh-like lower ends of the stacks by supports which do not extend below the cylinder members, so as to minimize damage to the supports.

  • Patent number: 4242144
Abstract: Hot processed bituminous mixed composition, particularly for road construction, characterized by containing non-hygroscopic, crystal water-containing substances, that upon heating to the mixing temperature of the mixed bituminous composition will completely or partly release their crystal water. The invention further relates to a filler as component of the mixed composition.

  • Patent number: 3991172
Abstract: Reactive calcium oxide is produced on an industrial scale by decomposing calcium carbonate having a grain size of less than 200 .mu.m at a temperature of at least 850.degree. C and at a CO.sub.2 --partial pressure of not more than 40% of the CO.sub.2 --equilibrium pressure corresponding to the formation of the reactive calcium oxide.
