Patents Assigned to Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals Co.
  • Patent number: 5066441
Abstract: A process for treating calcium phosphate fine particles which includes the step of compacting the particles under pressure to form a sheet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 1988
Date of Patent: November 19, 1991
    Assignee: Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals Co.
    Inventor: Thomas W. Gerard
  • Patent number: 5002610
Abstract: Improved magnesium phosphate fast-setting cements comprising an effective amount of fiber to increase the impact strength of the cement. These fibers include glass, metal, organic and mixtures thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 1985
Date of Patent: March 26, 1991

  • Patent number: 4990188
Abstract: The coefficient of friction between floors and shoes, particularly in food plants, can be increased by applying thereto, an anti-slip composition comprising sodium bicarbonate and an abrasive, preferably calcium carbonate. Food grade compositions can be provided. It has also been found that sodium bicarbonate alone or in combination with an abrasive can be used to absorb oil, grease and chemicals from surfaces. An abrasive can be added to improve the anti-slip characteristics of the absorbant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 1988
Date of Patent: February 5, 1991
    Assignee: Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals Co.
Inventors: Arthur P. Micek, James T. Elfstrum
  • Patent number: 4961912
Abstract: Elemental phosphorus contained in waste ponds can be appropriately passivated to render them substantially less pyrophoric by bringing the elemental phosphorus-containing wastes into contact with an oxygen-containing gas. Substantially pure oxygen can be used to appropriately sparge the elemental phosphorus-containing wastes submerged in the waste pond. If desired, phosphorus values can be recovered in the form of an aqueous phosphate solution.

  • Patent number: 4937092
Abstract: Fish fillets, particularly those from high fat fish, can be storage stabilized and yield stabilized by means of a composition containing an alkali metal tripolyphosphate hydrated with lemon juice solids, an alkali metal acid pyrophosphate and an alkali metal sorbate at sorbate levels significantly less than required by prior art and without citric acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 1988
Date of Patent: June 26, 1990

  • Patent number: 4931097
Abstract: A particulate solid activator comprising a porous material containing absorbed ammonium phosphate can be prepared by a process which comprises: heating a slurry of the porous material and an ammonium phosphate solution; and then spray drying the slurry to obtain the particulate solid activator. The porous material can be diatomaceous earth. The resulting particulate solid activator can be dry blended with a magnesium-containing compound, e.g. MgO, and an optional aggregate to form a magnesium phosphate fast-setting cement mixture. This mixture reacts in the presence of an aqueous component at ambient temperature to form a monolithic solid.
