    Abstract: A process for improving the ability of a metal surface to adhere comprising contacting the metal surface with an aqueous medium comprising a solution of a salt of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of yttrium and metals of the lanthanum series having atomic numbers from 57 to 71 inclusive, and subsequently contacting the metal surface with a solution of organosilane.
