Abstract: The present invention relates to oil-in-water emulsion compositions useful for imparting an artificial tan to human skin. These emulsions contain paucilamellar lipid vesicles, i.e. vesicles comprising several concentric lipid bilayers, encapsulating an aqueous dihydroxyacetone solution. The vesicles comprise a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether, a sterol, a quaternary ammonium compound, and optionally, a non-surface active oil. In further embodiments, these emulsion compositions contain one or more sunscreens, and are also useful for protecting human skin from the harmful effects of sunlight and other sources of ultraviolet radiation. The present invention also relates to methods for preparing these compositions, methods for providing an artificial tan to human skin, and methods for protecting human skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.
Abstract: Disclosed are sunscare compositions having enhanced substantivity, efficacy and the like for protecting the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet irradiation, such as sunburn and sun-induced premature aging of the skin.

Abstract: Novel antitussive and anesthetic liquid compositions of matter for oral use comprising an effective oral antitussive drug and dyclonine; and method of using same.
Abstract: The present invention relates to sunscreen compositions for substantially daily use containing effective sunscreening agents for both UVA and UVB radiation which are not readily absorbed by the skin; which have increased sunscreen protection and decreased chance for allergy, irritation, or toxicity problems resulting from daily or almost daily use; and which are less susceptible to rub off. These sunscreen compositions provide a constant and even protection against both UVA and UVB radiation and which are cosmetically acceptable. Furthermore, the present invention relates to methods for protecting the skin of humans or lower animals from the effects of UVA and UVB wavelength radiation. This method comprises topically applying to the skin on a substantially daily basis an effective coating of a sunscreen composition of the present invention.

Abstract: Disclosed are stabilizer compositions comprising specific mixed partial salts of a lower alkyl vinyl ether-maleic acid copolymer wherein said partial salts contain as the cationic salt function:(a) from about 10% to about 65% zinc or strontium cations; and(b) from about 10% to about 75% calcium cationsof the total initial carboxyl groups reacted. Also disclosed are denture stabilizing compositions comprising these mixed partial salts, as well as denture stabilizing compositions comprising a safe and adhesively effective amount of two or more denture adhesive components wherein one of said denture adhesive components is the mixed partial salt(s) of the present invention.
Abstract: Denture cleansing tablet comprising an inorganic persalt bleaching agent, an organic peroxyacid bleach precursor and a solid base material which in the presence of water releases carbon dioxide with effervescence. The composition provides more rapid and efficaceous denture cleansing performance and anti-bacterial activity.
Abstract: Disclosed are oral anesthetic pharmaceutical compositions comprising: (a) from about 0.02% to about 25% of a pharmaceutically acceptable acid salt of a .beta.-aminopropiophenone, such as dyclonine HCl; (b) from about 0.02% to about 20% of saccharin; and (c) from about 1% to about 99% of a pharmaceutically acceptable oral carrier. Also provided are methods for providing an anesthetic effect in humans or animals which comprises orally administering to said human or animal a safe and effective amount of these pharmaceutical compositions. Also provided is a novel process for the manufacture of anesthetic lozenges containing a .beta.-aminopropiophenone along with saccharin.

Abstract: The present invention relates to emulsion compositions and methods for preparing these emulsion compositions which employ amphipathic emulsifying agents and high shear polymeric emulsion techniques and which may be used for the preparation of a great variety of emulsion compositions. In particular, the method provides for the preparation of hybrid products which effectively cleanse and also leave a highly protective substantive residue on the skin.
