Patent number: 6695123Abstract: A scraper blade assembly which is configured to provide a rigid material scraping edge supported on a resiliently compliant material such that the scraping edge is adapted to move in response to irregularities in an associated conveyor belt. Further, supporting structure for the resiliently compliant material is configured so as to promote an upward deformation of the resiliently compliant material when a compressive force is applied to the rigid material scraping edge to thereby form the resiliently compliant material as a supporting surface above the scraping edge when such a force is applied.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2002Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Richwood Industries, Inc.Inventor: Richard D. Patent number: 5628392Abstract: A reversible belt scraper is provided with opposite belt scraping surfaces and is adapted to be reversed by inverting. The belt scraper is formed with a pair of metal side frames, and a transversely elongated body is formed as a block of rubber defining the belt scraping surfaces on opposite sides. A pair of fiberboard backing plates are positioned to support the rubber block against forces tending to bend or deflect the rubber. The fiberboard backing plates wear at a rate faster than the wear rate of the rubber block and assure full contact between the belt and the rubber scraping body. In a further embodiment, ceramic bricks are embedded within the rubber block with wear surfaces at the rubber scraping surface. The rubber, brick and backing plates are formed in modular segments which are stacked end-to-end between the frames and retained by metal slugs which extend through the segments.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Assignee: Richwood Industries, Inc.Inventors: Lewis D. Patent number: 5267642Abstract: A modular skirt board clamp and saddle assembly for a bulk material conveyor includes a plurality of individual saddle frames which extend transversely of the direction of belt movement, arranged in longitudinal side-by-side relation, and each frame supporting a plurality of polymeric low friction blocks or segments, defining a belt supporting surface. Skirt board support arms are positioned at each lateral side of the assembly with lower ends joined to one of the lateral ends of the saddle frames, and extending vertically above the segments and transversely toward the opposite side. A pair of skirt boards are supported in clamping segments or plates, mounted on the arms, in which one of the clamping plates is fixed to the inner end of the arm, and the other is movable by a hand-operated, toggle mechanism. The belt is supported in immediate underlying relation to the skirt boards by elongated polymeric support segments which extend in common to each of the saddle frames.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Richwood Industries, Inc.Inventors: Chandragupta M. Patent number: 5103967Abstract: An impact slider-type idler for use in the transition section of a bulk material conveyor supports the belt against the impact of material to be conveyed in the transition section and, at the same time, guides the belt from the tail pulley of the conveyor into the desired troughing angle. The slider of this invention employs a plurality of support members extending transversely of the direction of movement of the belt, in side-by-side relation. The support members are formed with T-shaped supports along the upper surface, which supports are inclined to define an increment of change in the troughing angle. Each of the support members carries on the T-shaped supports polymeric segments or blocks which extend transversely of the belt. The angle formed by each section progressively supports the belt between the flat condition as it leaves the tail pulley to a fully troughted position as it exits the transition zone.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1991Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Assignee: Richwood Industries, Inc.Inventor: Donald L. Patent number: 5038924Abstract: An improved impact saddle is provided for use in place of a conventional impact roller assembly, for supporting a bulk material conveyor at an impact zone. The assembly includes a support frame which is adapted to be positioned in transverse relation to the length of the belt. The support frame forms a pair of side-by-side T-shaped supports which extend in parallel relation transversely of the belt. A plurality of polymeric low friction segments, such as high molecular weight polyethylene, are formed with lower T-shaped slots which are adapted to receive the T-shaped supports for threading onto the support frame. The segments have upper surfaces which collectively form a support for a section of the conveyor belt in the impact zone.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1990Date of Patent: August 13, 1991Assignee: Richwood Industries, Inc.Inventor: Donald L.
