Abstract: An image forming apparatus connected over a network to an information processing apparatus, which translates source text information to be translated, includes a reading unit, a transmitter, and an output unit. The reading unit reads image information from an original document. The transmitter transmits partial image information read from a part of the original to the information processing apparatus at a point in time when the partial image information has been read. The receiver receives, from the information processing apparatus, partial translated information obtained by translating source text information contained in the partial image information. The output unit outputs the received partial translated information. The reading unit reads the image information from the original even while the partial image information is transmitted to the information processing apparatus.
Abstract: A positional deviation correction pattern includes a first and second pattern image portions adjacent in a sub-scanning direction at the same position in a main-scanning direction, with the same width in the main-scanning direction. Each image portion includes a first side extending in the sub-scanning direction, a second side continuing from one end of the first side and extending in a direction intersecting the sub-scanning direction, and a third side continuing from the other end and extending in a direction intersecting both the sub-scanning direction and the second side. The second sides have the same inclination angle to a virtual line parallel to the main-scanning direction. The third sides have the same inclination angle to the virtual line. A length of one image portion in the sub-scanning direction gradually increases from one end to the other end in the main-scanning direction, a length of the other image portion gradually decreases.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus serving as a master device and a plurality of local image processing apparatus serving as local devices are connected to one another via a network, and each of the devices includes an authentication information storage unit and an authentication unit. The master device stores, as master authentication information, authentication information necessary for an authentication on each of users who are able to use each of the devices, for each of the devices, and allows editing of the master authentication information. When the authentication information on the local device in the master authentication information is edited, the edited authentication information is transmitted to the local device, and the authentication information stored in local device is updated. When a user login operation is performed on the local device, an authentication is performed by using the authentication information in the local device.
