Patent number: 12283135Abstract: A system detects vehicle safety system issues present within a fleet vehicle. A plurality of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) collected or generated by an onboard computing system of the vehicle are received via a network. The system determines two or more of the DTCs occurred within a predetermined threshold. The two or more DTCs correspond to different sources within the vehicle. A common theme is determined between the plurality of DTCs having different sources. The two or more DTCs that occurred within the predetermined threshold are correlated with a vehicle safety system issue stored in an issue database. An alert is transmitted based on the correlated vehicle safety system issue to a recipient via the network.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2021Date of Patent: April 22, 2025Assignee: RM ACQUISITION, LLCInventor: Shaun M. Patent number: 12240466Abstract: A system for identifying a change in the operator of a vehicle includes a controller configured to determine, during operation of the vehicle by a current operator of the vehicle over a period of time, a plurality of values for at least two variables associated with the current operator. The controller correlates the values for the two variables to form a plurality of data points which together form a point cloud associated with the current operator. The controller performs a comparison of the point cloud to a point cloud stored in a memory and associated with a prior operator of the vehicle and determines, responsive to the comparison, whether the current operator of the vehicle is the prior operator of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: RM ACQUISITION, LLCInventors: Andreas U. Patent number: 12202485Abstract: A monitoring system for a combination vehicle comprises at least one image capture device mounted on a tractor, which has a trailer mounted control system within its field of view. The trailer mounted control system has a visual indicator. A controller is associated with the at least one image capture device. The controller captures images of the visual indicator, determines if the visual indicator meets a predetermined event condition and provides notification to at least one of a driver of the tractor and a remote fleet operator in response to the visual indicator meeting the predetermined condition.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2021Date of Patent: January 21, 2025Assignee: RM ACQUISITION, LLCInventors: Thomas J Hayes, Michael D Cremona, Steven C Schapel, Daniel P Zula, Nianqing Zhou

Patent number: 12192620Abstract: A system for opportunistic imaging includes an imaging device that generates data comprising a plurality of sequential image frames. The system also includes a control module that causes the imaging device to generate standard-resolution image frames at a standard-frame rate and a standard-resolution, such that there is a processing time lull between the generation of sequential standard-resolution image frames. The control module also causes the imaging device to generate one or more burst-resolution image frames at a burst-frame rate and a burst-resolution within the processing time lull.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: RM ACQUISITION, LLCInventors: Andreas U. Patent number: 12085400Abstract: Techniques for notifying a driver of locations at which the driver can stop to comply with hours of service (HOS) rules are provided. In some examples, a navigation application compares the amount of time a driver has driven a vehicle to HOS rules to determine the remaining time the driver may drive before violating the rules, and identifies potential rest stops reachable within the remaining time and displays the rest stops to the driver. In some examples, the navigation application predicts an amount of time it will take a driver to drive a generated route and compares the predicted time to HOS rules to determine a number or frequency of rest stops needed for the driver to comply. Based on the number or frequency of rest stops, the navigation application identifies potential rest stops near the route and displays the rest stops to the driver without altering the route.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2020Date of Patent: September 10, 2024Assignee: RM ACQUISITION, LLCInventor: Yusuf Ozturk

Patent number: 11619503Abstract: Systems and methods for route management are disclosed. A system for use with a communication network includes an electronic logging device, a global positioning device, and a server. The server communicates via a communication network and to access vehicle data and global positioning data via the communication network. The server includes a processor(s) and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions thereon, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the processor(s) to: analyze the vehicle data to identify start-and-stop events of the vehicle; analyze each of the start-and-stop events with respect to criteria to identify which of the start-and-stop events is associated with an actual visit event; identify the locations and the times from the global positioning data that correspond to the actual visit events; and correlate the locations and the times of the vehicle with the respective ones of the actual visit events.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2020Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: RM ACQUISITION, LLCInventors: Yusuf Ozturk, Ravi Kodavarti

Publication number: 20100036599Abstract: Methods and systems for determining a safest transportation route include determining a risk value for each of a set of candidate routes between an origin and a destination based on one or more safety factors or criteria, and comparing the risk values to determine the safest route. The risk values may be based upon default or selected safety factors, and may correspond to a normalized cost per unit distance. Safety factors may be derived from map data, obtained from user input and/or derived from other statistical data. User preferences and priorities may be included in the process for determining a safest route.
