    Abstract: A machining assembly and a method of cutting a tubular member (19) are described which includes a cutting tool (8) and a tubular member holder (4, 5), wherein the linear and rotational displacement of the cutting tool (8) and the tubular member (19) are controlled with respect to each other by two independent mechanisms. The assembly further includes a third mechanism for controlling the radial displacement of the cutting tool (8) with respect to a longitudinal axis of the tubular member (19).
