  • Patent number: 5655673
Abstract: A rack to hold cylindrical containers such as large spice jars has a plurality of pairs of resilient arms extending out from a back panel to form semi-cylindrical holders. Each holder has a pair of bridges filling the spaces between the rear of the semi-cylindrical holder and the back panel so as to strengthen the arms without adding to their thickness. Each holder has a plurality of inwardly-extending projections to catch under the lid of a jar to hold it even more securely.

  • Patent number: 5641096
Abstract: The dispenser has a plunger which is pressed downwardly by the user to dispense condiments, such as salt, pepper, sugar, spices, etc. The plunger structure has a dispensing head which passes through an outlet opening in the base of the device. The outlet opening through which the dispensing head passes is sealed by use of a seal structure forming a flexible flap contacting the head. The seal is secured in a base which can be removed to provide a wide opening for refilling the container. The device dispenses a predetermined quantity of condiment with each stroke reliably and with a minimum danger of jamming.

  • Patent number: 5490615
Abstract: The dispenser has a plunger which is pressed downwardly by the user to dispense condiments, such as salt, pepper, sugar, spices, etc. An adjusting device can be set to determine a predetermined amount to be dispensed by each stroke of the plunger. The plunger structure has a dispensing head which passes through an outlet opening in the base of the device. The head has a plurality of vertically spaced recesses with walls separating the recesses. The walls form an acute angle with the plane of the outlet opening. The base can be slipped over a resilient sealing member at the lower end of the dispensing head to remove and replace the base for refilling and cleaning of the dispenser. Resilient seals are used to seal the openings between the housing and the outside air so as to minimize clogging and jamming of the moving parts of the device due to humid air. The plunger can be locked to prevent unwanted dispensing, and to tighten the seals to facilitate washing, refilling and transportation of the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5448913
Abstract: The measuring device has a bowl. The bowl's capacity is adjusted by a dam structure located within the bowl and attached to a cover structure slidably mounted on the bowl. The slidable cover extends beyond the bowl for use as a handle. The handle has a downwardly-directed extension which is used to support and stabilize the device when the device rests on a flat surface. The handle also has a rounded indentation at the junction between the extension and the handle, so as to reinforce the junction and provide means for easily gripping the device. The sides of the bowl structure are flexible so that they can be squeezed together to release the cover so that the device can easily be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning. A detent structure is provided to locate the sliding dam at pre-marked measurement locations. The detent structure is centrally located to permit strengthening of the sliding attachment means and reduce wear.

  • Patent number: 5182948
Abstract: The measuring container has a body with a bowl at one end. A sliding cover is provided with a sliding barrier member or dam which moves longitudinally in the bowl to different positions to adjust the capacity of the bowl. The sliding dam or barrier member has a cover which extends by a distance sufficient to cover the opening between the dam and the rear wall of the bowl at all positions of the barrier member so as to prevent materials from entering that opening.

  • Patent number: 5042716
Abstract: A rural mailbox and post assembly enabling the front end of the mailbox to be pulled forward and up to or inside a window of a motor vehicle for retrieval of the mail. The post is made up of upper and lower portions, pivotally joined so that the upper portion may be pulled forward around a pivot pin at the top of the lower portion, which is affixed to the ground or a base. Biasing means such as a spring is provided to maintain the upper post and attached box in upright position until pulled forward. When the box is released, the spring urges the box back into upright position. A handle at the front of the box enables it to be grasped and pulled from within the vehicle.
