  • Patent number: 10295155
Abstract: An automated luminaire includes a light source, a compensation module, an optical device, and a controller. The light source has an ellipsoidal reflector and a fixedly mounted short arc discharge lamp and can move along its optical axis. The compensation module includes a diffuser. The optical device produces either a modified or unmodified light beam. If the light beam is modified, the controller either moves the light source to a first position or positions first and second portions of the diffuser in the light beam. If the light beam is unmodified and the light source is in the first position, the controller automatically moves the light source to a second position. If the light beam is unmodified and the diffuser is in the light beam, the controller automatically removes the diffuser from the light beam.
