  • Patent number: 7604208
Abstract: An apparatus including a platform having a surface secured to at least one leg, and leveling apparatus secured to the platform providing an indication of level about at least two axes. A method of positioning the apparatus includes the steps of positioning an end point of a first leg on a fiduciary point; setting a height of a mounting platform by extending said first leg; positioning an end point of a second leg to engage a surface; leveling the mounting platform on a first axis; positioning an end point of a third leg to engage said surface; leveling the mounting platform on a second axis; and re-positioning said first leg so that said end point is in a desired position.

  • Patent number: 7568289
Abstract: A handheld measurement device of an embodiment of the invention includes a distance measurement engine and an angular position measurement engine. A controller controls the distance measurement engine and associates an elevation, azimuth position, or relative angular position from the angular position measurement engine with distance measurements taken from the elevation engine. In preferred operations, each point measured from a target under the control of a user is automatically associated with an elevation and/or azimuth position obtained from the angular position engine. Preferably, the controller determines a set of relative coordinates in space for a plurality of related target points. The controller may then calculate a variety of useful distances, areas, volumes, etc., regarding the plurality of target points.

  • Patent number: 7511800
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for measuring distances. A measurement device emits a beam that reflects on the surface of an object. The measurement device determines the distance to the object, based on the time of flight of the beam from transmission to capture by the measurement device. The device includes a light source adapted to provide an outgoing reference beam. A detector is aligned to receive a return beam, wherein said return beam results from a reflection of said outgoing reference beam from an object outside of said distance measurement device. A diffuser is provided adjacent to the detector aligned to receive said return beam.

  • Patent number: 7499150
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for measuring distances. A measurement device emits a beam that reflects on the surface of an object. The measurement device determines the distance to the object, based on the time of flight of the beam from transmission to capture by the measurement device. The measurement device derives feedback reference pulses from pulses in the emitted beam and injects them into the device's receive path—creating a receive waveform that includes one or more feedback reference pulses and corresponding pulses in the return beam. The device uses the pulses in the waveform to measure time of flight. The measurement device can attenuate the feedback reference pulses to intensities similar or equal to the intensities of the return pulses. The measurement device can include a histogram processor that collects waveform samples at varying comparison thresholds.

  • Patent number: 6693503
Abstract: A relay (10), in particular for a starter for an internal combustion engine, is proposed. The relay (10) includes a relay coil (13) and a solenoid armature (22) which can be moved when full battery current flows to the relay coil (13). A contact member (37) can be actuated by the solenoid armature (22), whereby an operating lever (31) is situated on the contact member (37). It is provided that a coupling element (46) connects the operating lever (31) and the solenoid armature (22) with each other in a manner that allows them to slide with limits.
