Patent number: 10585170Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining misalignment of a radar sensor unit mounted to a vehicle includes providing targets on an alignment apparatus. A vehicle is located at predetermined location on a test station an exact given distance from the alignment apparatus. The actual locations and distances of the targets from each other and from radar sensor unit of the vehicle at the test station are known and pre-stored. At least one target is a greater distance from the vehicle than the other targets. The targets receive and return a radar wave from the radar sensor unit. The radar sensor unit determines locations and distances of the targets and compares with the given or actual locations and distances of the targets to determine misalignment of the radar sensor unit. A calibration program automatically calibrates azimuth and elevation to adjust for misalignment.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2015Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: Robert Bosch GbmHInventors: Raphael Hellinger, Oliver F. Method and system for determining vehicle speed using vertical and longitudinal acceleration sensors
Patent number: 10518757Abstract: System and method for determining vehicle speed of a wheel. The system including an electronic stability controller, an occupancy restraint controller, and an actuation controller coupled to a communication bus. The electronic stability controller including a wheel speed sensor to determine a first vehicle speed. The occupancy restraint controller including a vertical acceleration sensor to sense a vertical acceleration of the vehicle and a longitudinal acceleration sensor to sense a longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle. The actuation controller configured to determine a second vehicle speed using the vertical acceleration and the longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle. validate the second vehicle speed when the difference between the first vehicle speed and the second vehicle speed is less than a threshold, and use the first vehicle speed when the difference between the first vehicle and the second vehicle speed is greater than a threshold.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2016Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: Robert Bosch GbmHInventor: Hirak Chanda -
Publication number: 20140225623Abstract: A device for measuring a minimum cell voltage among cell voltages of a plurality of battery cells connected in series includes a plurality of ohmic resistors connected in series. The device is configured to be connected to a plurality of battery cells connected in series in such a way that a respective battery cell of the plurality of battery cells is associated with each ohmic resistor of the plurality of ohmic resistors according to the series connections. Each ohmic resistor of the plurality of ohmic resistors, with the exception of a first ohmic resistor, is configured to conduct the smaller of a current that corresponds to the cell voltage of the associated battery cell and the current that is conducted by a preceding ohmic resistor in the series connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2012Publication date: August 14, 2014Applicants: Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., Robert Bosch GbmHInventor: Stefan Butzmann

Publication number: 20110254478Abstract: A method for operating a drive unit for an electric motor, wherein the drive unit has a drive circuit for driving the electric motor and an intermediate circuit, which is connected upstream of the drive circuit, in particular having an intermediate circuit capacitor. The method includes supplying an actuating variable for driving the electric motor. The method further includes adjusting a variable input voltage and supplying the adjusted input voltage to the drive unit via the intermediate circuit. In addition, the method includes operating the drive circuit as a function of an available intermediate circuit voltage, which is dependent on the adjusted input voltage, and as a function of the actuating variable in order to drive the electric motor in accordance with the actuating variable.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2009Publication date: October 20, 2011Applicant: Robert Bosch GbmHInventors: Thomas Poetzl, Manfred Spraul

Patent number: 7021261Abstract: In an internal combustion engine, the fuel is conveyed by an electrically driven fuel pump. The intake side of this pump is connected to a fuel tank and its outlet side is connected to a pressure region. A prerun of the electrically driven fuel pump may be performed before the startup of the internal combustion engine. In order to increase the service life of the fuel pump, an actual pressure (pactual) in the pressure region may be detected by a pressure sensor and the execution of the prerun be a function of at least the signal of the pressure sensor.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2002Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: Robert Bosch GbmHInventors: Klaus Joos, Jens Wolber, Thomas Frenz, Markus Amler, Karsten Hinn

Patent number: 6847283Abstract: The invention concerns an inductive transmitter comprising two coils (1, 2), each with one core (3, 4). The two cores (3, 4) are capable of being moved relative to each other. Two systems are integrated in the transmitter that make it possible to simultaneously transmit data and/or energy, as well as the position of the two cores (3, 4) relative to each other. Finally, the transmission of data and/or energy takes place by means of induction, and the determination of the position of the two cores (3, 4) relative to each other takes place via a measurement of the magnetic field that exists between the two coils (1, 2).Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2001Date of Patent: January 25, 2005Assignee: Robert Bosch GbmHInventor: Juergen Schirmer

Patent number: 6078157Abstract: A circuit for operating an electric motor (10) has a triac (24) that is parallel to the electric motor (10). The triac (24) is acted upon by a first control signal (28) that is dependent on the voltage present at a first connection (11) of the electric motor (10). The triac (24) is further acted on by a second control signal (22) that is emitted as a braking signal by a motor-control circuit (19). The circuit of the invention, which includes a semiconductor component (24), permits both a braking of the electric motor (10) and the damping of an inductive voltage peak during the switch-off process of the electric motor (10). The damping of the inductive voltage peak is also assured after the separation of the voltage from an energy source (16).Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1997Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: Robert Bosch GbmHInventors: Hartmut Seiler, Ansgar Grass
