  • Patent number: 4700903
Abstract: A food processor wherein the tool in the bowl is rotated by a spindle, which is driven by an electric motor, through the medium of an insulating sleeve and an adapter which receives torque from the sleeve and transmits torque directly to the tool or through the medium of a tool carrier. The insulating sleeve, the spindle and an inner tubular portion of the adapter are surrounded by a tubular extension which is integral with the bottom wall and extends into the interior of the bowl. An outer tubular portion of the adapter has a coupling device which cooperates with the internal coupling device of a tool when the latter is placed around the outer tubular portion. A shank which extends upwardly from the outer tubular portion of the adapter can be centered at the underside of a cover for the bowl and can have an additional external coupling element which transmits torque to a tool or to the carrier. The selected tool or the carrier can but need not be removed from the bowl with the adapter.

  • Patent number: 4669672
Abstract: A food processor wherein a shaft which extends into the interior of a bowl is driven by an electric motor employs a whipping tool having a hub which receives torque from the shaft, either directly or through the medium of an adapter, and a disc-shaped portion. The underside of the disc-shaped portion is immediately adjacent to the upper side of the bottom wall of the bowl and has ribs separating radially extending channels each having an inlet in the region of the hub and one or more outlets at the periphery of the tool. When the tool rotates, the inlets draw air or receive air from a system of passages, and the channels discharge the thus admitted air into the material (such as cream, egg whites or mayonnaise) which gathers at the periphery of the tool so that the material is thoroughly mixed and is also whipped by admission of finely atomized air. The tool can process large or very small quantities of foodstuffs without changing its RPM.

  • Patent number: 4662084
Abstract: The housing of the apparatus which supplies conditioned air into the plenum chamber of the collapsible hood of an electric hair dryer has integral internal ribs which define a channel for the flow of air past an air heating device and toward an impeller which is driven by an electric motor and conveys conditioned air into the hood. Four walls of the housing have air admitting ports, and the ribs define with the bearing for the electric motor an annular gap for admission of air from the interior of the housing into an intermediate portion of the channel. The inlet of the channel is defined by outwardly flaring arcuate end portions of the ribs.

  • Patent number: 4658511
Abstract: An electric hair dryer wherein a collapsible hood defines one or more plenum chambers for heated air and has a foraminous inner panel which is adjacent to the hair when the hood is placed over the head of the wearer. The hood has a hollow extension which is adjacent to the chest of the wearer and is separably connectable with the slotted detachable cover of a housing for the electric motor which drives a rotor for supplying heated air into the plenum chamber or chambers. The rotor is installed in the cover and is disposed downstream of an air heating unit which is mounted in the interior of a hollow cylindrical or frustoconical air guide and surrounds a tube for admission of cool atmospheric air into the space around the motor. The bottom wall, the front wall and the two lateral walls of the housing are formed with ports which admit atmospheric air into the air guide as well as into the tube.

  • Patent number: 4644856
Abstract: The holder for a filter which contains a supply of comminuted coffee beans in an espresso coffee brewing apparatus is separably connectable to the housing of the apparatus by a bayonet lock connection and is separably connected with the filter by a coupling or detent of the type having cooperating male and female elements with the male elements provided on the holder and the female elements provided on the filter or vice versa. The filter is provided with arms for retaining the remnants of the supply of comminuted coffee beans therein.

  • Patent number: 4615250
Abstract: A household slicing machine wherein a disc shaped rotary knife is mounted in a vertical plane and a guard, which is separable from the housing of the machine, is movable in a second plane that is parallel to the vertical plane of the knife between a first position in which the guard cooperates with an adjustable abutment to conceal the knife, a second position in which the knife is exposed and the machine is ready for use, and a third position in which the guard can be detached from the housing. A spring-biased locking element is reciprocably mounted in the front wall of the housing to extend into an opening of the guard when the latter assumes its second position and to extend in front of an end face of the guard when the latter assumes its first position. This prevents accidental shifting of the guard from the selected position because each such shifting must be preceded by manual depression of the locking element.

  • Patent number: 4612836
Abstract: A household slicing machine wherein a disc-shaped knife can be driven to rotate in a first vertical plane and a stop for the foodstuff to be sliced is mounted in the housing in a second vertical plane which is parallel to the first plane. The stop is shiftable at right angles to the first plane to change the thickness of the slices and the adjusting device which shifts the stop relative to the knife has a pair of coaxial sleeves rotatably mounted on the stop and defining a helical path having several sections with different leads. A stationary carrier is provided on a working platform in front of the support and has a follower which extends into the helical path.

  • Patent number: 4598620
Abstract: A household slicing machine wherein a disc-shaped knife is rotatable in a vertical plane in response to starting of an electric motor as a result of depression of a trip which is mounted in the housing of the slicing machine. The trip can be depressed only when a detachable guard for the knife is held in an intermediate position in which the guard and an abutment for the foodstuff to be sliced define a gap wide enough for movement of the foodstuff into the range of the rotating knife. The guard causes a spring-biased blocking device to prevent depression of the trip when the guard is shifted to a position in which it cooperates with the abutment to prevent access to the knife as well as when the guard is actually detached or is held in a position in which it is detachable from the housing.

  • Patent number: 4580477
Abstract: A household slicing machine wherein a rotary disc-shaped knife is mounted in a housing in a vertical plane to slice foodstuffs which abut against the front side of a stop. The front side of the stop is located in a second vertical plane which is parallel to the plane of the knife and the machine has an adjusting device which can move the stop relative to the knife so as to shift the plane of the front side of the stop nearer to or further away from the plane of the knife and to thereby select the thickness of the slices which are severed from the selected foodstuff. The adjusting device has a stationary component having a follower whose carrier is removably mounted in a working platform which forms part of the housing and is located in front of the stop. The carrier extends through a window of the stop into a helical path which is defined by two confronting cylindrical walls respectively forming part of an inner and an outer sleeve.
