Patents Assigned to Robert Lonardo
  • Patent number: 5052128
Abstract: The padded boot means of this invention includes a padded boot having a first base portion, and having rearward and forward ends, and upper and lower surfaces. A secondary base portion is secured to the lower surface of the first base portion and is secured to the forward and rearward ends thereof to create a pocket there between. A supporting element such as the foot rest of a wheel chair, or a pad element, is adapted to be inserted into the pocket to support the patient's foot. The boot has lateral side portions which overlap on the upper portion of the patient's foot. Attachement means are provided for securing the side portions together. Similarly, the boot has a pair of heel flaps which extend from the rearward end of the boot, with the heel flaps being adapted to extend around a patient's heel. Attachment means serve to secure the heel flaps together. The boot has an outer surface comprised of a canvas-like material, and an inner surface comprised of a fleece-like material.

  • Patent number: 5005231
Abstract: A method and means for positioning bedfast patients where the apparatus iudes a rectangular pad which dwells on the bed surface and extends at least from above the shoulders of the patient to a point at least below the hip areas. Pairs of straps are secured to the pad and extend transversely across the pad in substantial alignment with the shoulders and hip areas, respectively, of the patient. Hand gripping loops are formed in the strap elements adjacent the side edges of the pad. Slide buckles are secured to the strap elements which extend outwardly from the side edges of the pad, and hook elements are secured thereto for securement to bed rails and the like to temporarily hold a patient in a side rest position, for example.

  • Patent number: 4912788
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a seat cushion for use by a person sitting in a chair or a bed. The seat cushion includes a base layer of padded material with raised cushion areas and depressed recessed areas. The cushion areas correspond to and receive the large muscle masses of the person's buttocks and thighs so as to distribute the person's body weight over the large muscle masses. The recessed areas correspond to the varying body prominences of the patient, such as the ischial bone prominences, so as to receive and suspend the prominences and thereby minimize pressure thereon. The cushion areas are created by stuffing compartments formed on the base with a padding material. The compartments are contoured so as to also define the recessed areas.

  • Patent number: 4782825
Abstract: An arm splint with a hand receiving portion formed on the forward end thereof includes upper and lower layers which are detachably secured together at the rearward ends and which are integrally secured together at the forward ends through a fold in the material of the device. Conventional retaining bands extend between the layers to hold the arm splint to the forearm of the patient. A separate elongated slot is formed between the two layers adjacent the forward ends to receive the support arm of a selected thumb and finger support element. A pin is provided in an aperture extending through the slot member for detachably holding the support arm of the thumb and finger support element within the slot. Each support arm has one or more apertures for receiving the pin.
