  • Patent number: 11622792
Abstract: A rod group includes a plurality of first rods that has an arcuate first curve, the first rods having mutually different lengths; and a plurality of second rods that has an S-shaped second curve, the second rods having mutually different lengths. The first rods and the second rods have shapes for treatment of scoliosis by (i) guiding the postoperative apex of the thoracic kyphosis to be located at the thoracic vertebrae T6 to T8, and (ii) guiding a postoperative apex of the thoracic kyphosis to be located at a position different from a preoperative apex of the thoracic kyphosis and the second rod each have a shape extending along an anatomically normal spinal column arrangement.

  • Patent number: 10219844
Abstract: A spine fixation device including an elongated bone screw partially embedded in a vertebra of a spine and a retaining head that can receive a rod and a head of the bone screw. The retaining head has an inner member that includes a screw head receiving section for receiving the screw head. The retaining head further has an outer member that includes an inner face that can contact an outer face of the screw head receiving section. When the inner face is in contact with the outer face, the screw head receiving section applies pressure to the screw head to fixate the relative angle between the bone screw and the retaining head.

  • Patent number: 8083777
Abstract: An implantable bone anchor assembly for fixing an elongated member such as a spinal rod may include a bone anchor, a coupling head configured to receive the bone anchor and the elongated member, and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism may provide compressive force to simultaneously fix the position of the elongated member and lock out polyaxial rotation of the bone anchor relative to the coupling head. The locking mechanism may include an engagement member with an oblique surface configured to slide along an oblique surface of the coupling head into engagement with the elongated member. The bone anchor may comprise a head portion and a threaded portion which may be coupled with the coupling head and joined together during manufacture. The assembly may further include a pin and/or a collar to retain the bone anchor. The bone anchor may be side-loaded into the coupling head.

  • Publication number: 20100114105
Abstract: A surgical inserter and a fusion cage system which may provide for simplified fusion cage attachment and positioning. The inserter may comprise a collapsible collet with a locking rod. The fusion cage with a rectangular cross-section head may be secured to the inserter through the reverse tapered aperture of the fusion cage. The collet may be inserted into the reverse tapered aperture and the locking rod may control collapse of the collet. The collet may lock the fusion cage to the inserter allowing simplified manipulation of the collet with the inserter. The inserter with the attached fusion cage is inserted into a surgical patient. The fusion cage may be positioned within an intervertebral space. The locking rod may be withdrawn from the collet allowing collapse and withdrawal of the collet from the fusion cage leaving the fusion cage positioned between two vertebrae and the inserter withdrawn from the surgical patient.

  • Patent number: 6074393
Abstract: To allow for greater ease of rod installation in a bone fixing screw having a threaded portion, and to prevent an installed rod from slipping out of place, there is formed at an outer end of a thread 11, a rod-receiving portion 12 having an opening obliquely placed with respect to the axial direction of the thread 11, so that a rod 20 can be inserted in a slantwise direction, and when it is stored in the rod-receiving portion 12, the rod 20 is secured in place with a retaining screw 14.

  • Patent number: 5876403
Abstract: The bone-fixing devices which are designed to allow for a freer assembly of the parts which are mounted to maintain plurality of bones in a specified position relationship, and also call for only one or two parts to be tightened to assemble all parts into the whole system. A pedicle 10 to be implanted into a bone is connected by using a connector 20 with a shaft 30 that serves as a reference to position the bones. In order to ensure that the pedicle 10 is connected with the fixture 20, a shaft 12 is supported in a fork 21 formed at the end of the fixture 20, said short shaft 12 is fitted into a concave 11 formed at the head of the pedicle 10, and said short shaft 12 is fixed at the head of the pedicle with a retaining screw 13 so that the fixture 20 is mounted rotatably about the short shaft with reference to the pedicle 10.

  • Patent number: 4174385
Abstract: It has now been determined that cancer cells have a specific surface protein existing as a glycoprotein which functions to stimulate specific cell-mediated immune response in the host directed toward the specific cancer. The following disclosure includes the method of identification of the specific cell surface protein and procedures utilizing the protein, or preferably the active peptide in testing for specific cancers and immunization. Having identified the specific cell surface protein for a cancer, the n-terminal tridecapeptide or the active portion of the peptide may be synthesized and utilized in testing and immunization. Further, the specific cell surface protein and active peptide for ductal carcinoma (brest cancer) is identified herein.
