The second chamber is at the same time connected to a negative pressure source.     Abstract: A method for the adaptation of a precontrolled value for a feedback control is based on the realization that, whenever the operating conditions coincide with the calibration conditions for the initial determining of precontrolled values, no control-manipulated variable deviations may occur in all the operating ranges, and that accordingly deviations which are nevertheless observed are a sign that the calibration conditions no longer exist. This may be caused by aging effects or by uncompensated disturbances. The method establishes the differences in control-manipulated variable deviations over different classes of an influencing variable. For each influencing variable class, a correction value is then determined such that, by means of the correction value, the error previously observed for the respective range is compensated during operation of the controlled system.

    Abstract: A capacitive position sensor includes a capacitor arrangement assembled of a stator (5) and a rotor (6). The stator supports at least three coplanar electrodes (21, 22, 23) having the shape of circle sectors 120.degree.. The rotor supports at least a counterelectrode (25) having the shape of a circle sector of 240.degree.. An oscillator (30) applies two a.c. voltage (u1, u2) of equal amplitude and opposite phase to two of the stator electrode (21, 22). The range of rotation of the rotor is such that the remaining third electrode on the stator is always overlapped by the counterelectrode. Voltage induced on the counterelectrode by means of the a.c. voltages on the stator electrodes is inverted and fed back as a neutralizing voltage (uR) to the third stator electrode (23) until the induced voltage on the counterelectrode reaches zero value. The neutralizing voltage is rectified and integrated into a d.c. voltage (UA) which serves as a measure of the angular position of the rotor (6).

    Abstract: With a process and an apparatus for cold-start control in an electronic internal combustion engine system, the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine are supplied, during starting, with the increased fuel feed. The fuel feed per an ignition interval (TD.sub.n) is effected by a plurality of short cold-start injection pulses generated at increased frequency at linear time intervals with respect to one another in respective ignition intervals. This frequency control replaces the normal formation of fuel injection pulses corresponding to half-periods of crankshaft rotation, during starting, and is cancelled upon commencement of preset fuel reduction thresholds. Owing to the fuel atomisation attained, there results a spontaneously ignitable mixture, so that a cold start is still possible even at extremely cold temperatures.

    Abstract: An arrangement for controlling fuel flow to an internal combustion engine includes a fuel-injection pump, a fuel tank, and a mechanically driven pre-supply pump for supplying fuel from the fuel tank to the suction space of the fuel injection pump. An electromagnetic control valve located downstream of the pre-supply pump and upstream of the suction space of the fuel injection pump moves between a supply position in which fuel flows from the pre-supply pump into the suction space, and a disconnect position. A mechanically driven additional suction supply pump communicates the suction space with the fuel tank in the disconnect position of the electromagnetic control valve. The electromagnetic control valve has throttle means for communicating the suction space of the fuel injection pump with the inlet of the additional suction supply pump in the disconnect position of the electromagnetic control valve.

    Abstract: The voltage developed by a primary winding of an ignition coil is supplied to a voltage divider for furnishing an analog signal of reduced amplitude for evaluation on an analog basis, which reduced amplitude analog signal is averaged by a capacitor connected between the voltage divider tap and ground. The same reduced primary winding voltage is supplied through an input resistor to one input of a differential amplifier connected to operate as a switch having hysteresis and having a reference voltage applied to it such that the output will be the provision of a steady voltage having a duration corresponding to the spark discharge duration, for subsequent digital evaluation.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for protecting a catalyzer against overheating. The method includes the steps of checking whether an injection valve no longer correctly closes by means of a conventional diagnostic process. If the condition is present that an injection valve no longer correctly closes, the air/fuel mixture for all cylinders is enriched and an overrun switchoff is inhibited. The method leads to the condition that in all load ranges, the oxygen quantity reaching the catalyzer is limited so that no damaging afterburning can take place. In this way, the catalyzer is protected against overheating and the affected vehicle is not disabled.
