Abstract: A filter or clarification system for removing impurities from a liquid to be treated, i.e., influent. The system preferably includes a chamber for receiving a liquid to be treated. The chamber has a settling plate assembly including a plurality of inclined liquid passageways through which the liquid to be treated is directed to remove impurities from the liquid to be treated. An efficiency enhancement unit is operably associated with the settling assembly to improve the filtration efficiency of the settling assembly. Preferably, the efficiency enhancement unit includes a vibrator for imparting a vibration force to at least a portion of the settling assembly to improve the filtration efficiency of the settling assembly. Preferably, the vibrator acts to prevent impurities from collecting on one or more settling members in the settling assembly. The settling members can be settling plates or settling tubes. In the preferred form, the vibrator is operated during substantially the entire filtration cycle.

Abstract: A method for identifying cable faults at the terminals of a broadband lambda probe comprising a Nernst cell and a pump cell in the exhaust gas duct of an internal combustion engine. The broadband lambda probe has a reference electrode terminal RE, an internal pump electrode terminal IPE and an external pump electrode terminal APE. A pump current is applied to the broadband lambda probe and a pulsed reference pump current is applied to the broadband lambda probe. Cable faults are identified by the evaluation of potential swings in current.
Abstract: A crust breaking device for metal melts includes a pneumatic cylinder having a cylinder housing, a piston, which is axially displaceable within the cylinder housing, and a piston rod, which is fastened to the piston. The piston rod is guided by the cylinder housing and movable between a retracted final position and an extended final position. The device includes an electronic control unit and a valve arrangement, which can be actuated via the electronic control unit and is connected via control lines to front and rear pressure chambers inside the cylinder housing. The device further includes at least one metal plate that is fixedly arranged within the cylinder housing in order to define a final position of the piston or the piston rod. The metal plate and the piston are electrically connected to the control unit such that a contact of the piston with the metal plate closes a circuit.
Abstract: A method for controlling the temperature of an injector of an injection system for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine during the standstill of the internal combustion engine involves branching off a partial amount of the fuel as flush volume between a pre-supply pump and a high-pressure pump; conducting it through a heat exchanger for heating the fuel; and feeding the heated fuel to a high-pressure fuel storage (inside the injector) so that the flush volume flows through the high-pressure fuel storage to prevent fuel from solidifying.
Abstract: The invention relates to a pressure relief valve (2) for a packaging container (1), comprising a base plate (3), which can be fastened on a wall of the packaging container and has a valve opening (9), also comprising a membrane (4), which is arranged on the base plate (3) over the valve opening (9), wherein the membrane (4) has an adhesive on one side, and further comprising an intermediate layer (6), which is adhesively bonded to the adhesive-containing side of the membrane such that the membrane (4) has two remaining, parallel adhesive-containing peripheral zones for fastening on the base plate (3), wherein the membrane (4) is arranged on the base plate by way of the intermediate layer (6) such that a channel zone (14) is formed on the base plate (3), this channel zone covering over the valve opening (9) and resting right up against the base plate in the closed position.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine is operated with direct fuel injection into the combustion chambers. Furthermore, the internal combustion engine is operated with sub-optimum ignition angle efficiency and an apportionment of a fuel quantity, which is to be injected before the start of a combustion, into at least two partial injections. A torque loss which results from the sub-optimum ignition angle efficiency and/or from the apportionment of the fuel to be injected is compensated by means of an increased charge of the combustion chambers. The fuel quantity and the charge are coordinated with one another in such a way that the air ratio lambda of the combustion chamber charges is greater than 1.
