  • Patent number: 6902124
Abstract: A fuel injector, in particular, an injector for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, having an actuator, which cooperates with a valve needle, has a first valve closure member that is arranged on the valve needle, the valve closure member cooperating with a first valve seat surface on a valve body forming a first sealing seat. A second valve closure member cooperates with a second valve seat surface in the valve seat body forming a second sealing seat. The valve needle, or the first valve closure member, has a limit stop, against which, after a partial stroke of the valve needle, a counter limit stop of the second valve closure member strikes, lifting the second valve closure member from the second sealing seat in response to a further stroke of the valve needle.

  • Patent number: 6901745
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a nitrogen oxide (NOx) storage catalytic converter (12?). During a first operating phase of the storage catalytic converter (12?), nitrogen oxides are stored and, during a second operating phase, stored nitrogen oxides are discharged from the converter (12?). The stored quantity of nitrogen oxides is determined during the first operating phase. In order to be able to determine start and end of the second operating phase as accurately as possible, a quantity, which characterizes the discharge quantity of nitrogen oxides, is determined during the second operating phase and compared to the stored quantity of nitrogen oxides determined during the first operating phase. With the comparison, a plausibility check and a calibration of the output signal of a nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor (14?) can take place. The nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor (14?) is disposed downstream of the storage catalytic converter (12?).

  • Patent number: 6901942
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a throttle valve unit for installation into a flow conduit through which a gas flow passes. A flap shaft of the throttle valve unit is affixed to a stamped insert part inside a fastening region. The stamped insert part, which includes an insert border, is molded into a housing. At the same time as the stamped insert part is molded into the housing, the flap shaft affixed to the stamped insert part is molded-in inside the fastening region. A planar region of the stamped insert part connected to the flap shaft is cut out from this stamped insert part.

  • Patent number: 6901791
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for diagnosing a fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine. In order to make possible a differentiation of the fault with respect to individual components of the fuel supply system, a method is suggested which is characterized by the following steps: recording the trace of the fuel pressure in the fuel supply system (2); forming the frequency spectrum of the fuel supply trace (3); and, analyzing the frequency spectrum (4). The analysis of the frequency spectrum preferably includes the following steps: comparing the trace of the recorded frequency spectrum to the trace of the frequency spectrum of a fault-free operating fuel supply system at this operating point; and, in the event that deviations between the traces of the frequency spectra are present, classifying the deviations in accordance with the nature of the faults in the fuel supply system via which the deviations are caused.

  • Patent number: 6899077
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to reduce exhaust emission during the staring phase of a direct-injection internal combustion engine. For this purpose, at least one first injection per working cycle takes place when the internal combustion engine is cold, especially during the starting and/or warm-up phase, thereby producing a substantially homogeneous, combustible fuel/air mixture (56) in the combustion chamber (12). In the same working cycle at least one further injection is supposed to take place which produces a substantially rich fuel/air mixture (64) in the zone of the ignition device (34). The lambda value of the fuel/air mixture (64) produced by the second injection in the zone of the ignition device (34) is smaller than the lambda value of the fuel/air mixture (56) present in the remaining combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 6899370
Abstract: The invention starts with a fastening of a wiper system (10) to a vehicle body (20) by means of a rubber elastic fastening element (22), which sits on the circumference in a receptacle opening (26) of the wiper system (10) or the vehicle body (20) and sits with a passage opening (28) on a pin (32) of the respective other part, whereby the connection between the wiper system (10) and the vehicle body (20) is detachable via a defined axial force (30) in the direction of the interior of the vehicle body (20). It is proposed that a defined frictional force between the inner and/or outer circumferential surface (36, 38) of the fastening element (22) and the adjacent component (10, 20, 32) is generated by an initial axial stress of the fastening element (22).

  • Patent number: 6901325
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are suggested for limiting the speed of a vehicle to a limit speed with the arrangement not needing an integral component and nonetheless being precise at steady state. A maximum permissible acceleration proportional to the difference between an actual speed and the limit speed is determined. From the maximum permissible acceleration, a limit value for an output quantity of a drive unit of the vehicle is determined by means of a vehicular dynamic operation equation in dependence upon the running resistance. The magnitude of the limit value for limiting the speed of the vehicle to the limit speed may not be exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6899817
Abstract: A method and a suitable device for carrying out this method is proposed, for etching a substrate (10), especially a silicon element, with the aid of an inductively coupled plasma (14). For this purpose, a high frequency electromagnetic alternating field is generated, which produces an inductively coupled plasma (14) from reactive particles in a reactor (15). In this connection, the inductively coupled plasma (14) comes about by the action of the high frequency electromagnetic alternating field upon a reactive gas. Furthermore, a device, in particular a magnetic field coil (21) is provided which produces a static or timewise varying magnetic field between the substrate (10) and the ICP source (13). For this, the magnetic field is oriented in such a way that its direction is at least approximately or predominantly parallel to the direction defined by the line connecting the substrate (10) and the inductively coupled plasma (14).

  • Patent number: 6901355
Abstract: A method for correcting non-linearities of an output signal of an electrical component with the aid of a characteristics map that is defined by discrete interpolation points. In this context, the adjacent interpolation points of the characteristics map are ascertained as a function of at least one signal influencing the non-linearities of the output signal. Interpolation is carried out between these interpolation points, and a corresponding correction signal is ascertained as a function of the or each signal by an interpolation. The output signal of the electrical component is corrected as a function of the correction signal. To improve the correction of non-linear transfer characteristics and/or temperature responses of the electrical component, it is proposed that the or each signal for addressing the characteristics map be high-pass filtered, and the correction signal be ascertained as a function of the or each signal by the interpolation and a subsequent low-pass filtering.
