  • Patent number: 4714100
Abstract: A machine for making molds and molding cores (126) includes a pair of mold boxes (42a, 42b) removably mounted on a frame (60) for rotation between an upright, molding position in which molding material is introduced into the molding cavity of the molding boxes (42a, 42b) by a carrier (26) and an inverted discharge position in which the mold (126) is removed from the boxes by a mold receiving assembly (76). A pressure head assembly (46) both compresses molding material within the molding cavity and introduces a catalyst gas into the cavity for curing the molding material. A system for removing the spent gas from the molding cavity includes a pair of gas receiving chambers (122a, 122b) integral with the frame (60) which receives gas through the bottom of the mold boxes (42a, 42b) and an exhaust assembly (68, 70) which is selectively coupled with exhaust ports (124a, 124b) in the chambers (122a, 122b ).

  • Patent number: 4681132
Abstract: A check valve is disclosed having a preset cracking pressure. The check valve comprises a valve element reciprocatably positioned within a valve body, both the valve body and the valve element including valve seats which seal together when the valve element is urged forwardly within the valve body. A plug is positioned within the rear of the valve body to constantly urge the valve element forwardly thereby defining a cracking pressure necessary to unseat the valve seats allowing the flow of fluid through the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4617015
Abstract: The invention comprises a visual pressure indicator for endotracheal cuffs. More particularly, the indicator of the invention comprises an indicating diaphragm which is sealingly positioned within a body by means of a cap. A hole is positioned within the cap to allow protrusion of an indicating stem of the diaphragm. The air space between the diaphragm and the body is connected in fluid communication with the cuff supply tube by means of passageways. A syringe-operable, one-way valve is positioned within the body to allow filling of the endotracheal cuff with air by means of a syringe, and to prevent leakage of the air from the cuff once it is properly filled. The indicator of the invention is fitted to the end of the cuff supply tube, and a conventional syringe is fitted to the indicator. When the endotracheal tube is in position within the patient's trachea, the syringe is operated to force air into the endotracheal cuff via the one-way valve, cuff supply tube, and cuff supply channel.

  • Patent number: 4499968
Abstract: Lubricator for bores in members, the lubricator being particularly useful for the lubrication of bores of small diameter with a lubricant of high viscosity. The lubricator has an applicator in the form of an elongated composite plunger having an outer tubular part and inner rod-like part disposed within the tubular part and reciprocable relative thereto. The inner part has an enlarged head thereon disposed axially outwardly of the confronting outer end of the outer tubular part, the head and the confronting end of the outer tubular part in the initial stage of operation of the lubricator defining a toroidal gap which receives and retains lubricant which it picks up as the outer end of the composite plunger travels through a reservoir for lubricant and thence into the bore of the member.

  • Patent number: 4495551
Abstract: A conductor tube for a battery operated flashlight is disclosed. The conductor tube comprises an inner non-conductive sleeve positioned within an outer conductive sleeve. The flashlight bulb-receiving end of the conductor tube includes a plurality of inwardly disposed lances which extend from the outer conductive sleeve through the inner non-conductive sleeve to electrically engage the base terminal of the light bulb. The lances may extend longitudinally with respect to the conductor tube to securely receive the base of the light bulb of the flashlight. Alternatively, the lances may extend substantially circumventially about the end of the conductor tube to threadably receive the base of the light bulb and establish electrical continuity therewith.

  • Patent number: 4416393
Abstract: A guard to prevent the inadvertent operation of an inflator for use with an inflatable article, the inflator having a piercing pin which is operated by a manually operated lever. The guard of the invention, which is used instead of the formerly used headed frangible pin which extended through the lever and the body of the inflator on both sides thereof, is of U-shape and is mounted on the body of the inflator so that the broad main part of the guard straddles the lever when the latter is in retracted position, and the legs of the guard tightly pinch the opposite sides of the inflator body between them. The guard is simple and economical to make, can be quickly applied to the inflator body, is reusable, and can readily be applied in the field, in contrast to the formerly employed frangible pin which required the use of special heading equipment in order fully to apply it to the inflator body.

  • Patent number: 4004614
Abstract: A tether adapted for use in a device for inflating and deflating an inflatable article. The device shown has a body affixed to a wall of the inflatable article at a hole therethrough, the device having a tubular insert or nipple sealed to the body and a closure element or plug functioning as a stopper for the nipple, the plug being completely removable from the nipple to deflate the article. The plug has threaded engagement with the nipple, and functions as an inflating check valve when the valve is opened by partially unscrewing the plug from the nipple. The inflation device incorporates a novel tether for the rotatable plug, the tether permitting free rotation of the plug with respect to the nipple, and the complete removal of the plug from the nipple while retaining it tethered, as during the deflation of the inflatable article.
