    Abstract: A system has a range-finding laser device coupled to an operator that performs a latest scan measuring a plurality of data points indicative of range and angle, an attitude inertial measurement unit (IMU) that is affixed to the range-finding laser device that measures pitch, roll, and yaw of the range-finding laser device, and two zero-velocity update (zupt) IMUs coupled to the operator that estimate position, velocity, and yaw of the operator. Further, the system has logic that transforms a plurality of data points from a sensor frame of reference, based upon measurements made, to a global frame of reference using data indicative of a latest global pose to obtain data indicative of transformed data points and merges the data indicative of the transformed data points with a point cloud.
