Abstract: A breaking apparatus (1) which includes; a housing (3); a striker pin (4) having a driven end and an impact end, locatable in said housing (3) in at least one retaining location to protrude said impact end through the housing (3); a moveable mass (2) for impacting on the driven end of the striker pin (4), and a shock-absorber (7a, b) coupled to the retaining locations. The shock-absorber (1) also includes at least two elastic (12) and at least one inelastic (13) layer in a first shock-absorbing assembly (7a) located internally within the housing about the striker pin (2) between the retaining location and the striker pin impact end. The shock-absorbing assembly (7a) is configured to allow movement of the shock absorber parallel to, or co-axial with the striker pin longitudinal axis during use.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of securing a shaft at any point along its substantially vertical axis of movement, wherein the method includes a locking device that is moveable with respect to the shaft. The method is characterised by the step of moving the locking device into a position wherein at least one face of the locking device mates against at least one point on the shaft so as to secure the shaft at any point along its substantially vertical axis of movement. In particular this invention relates to a method of securing a drop hammer at any point along its substantially vertical axis by use of a hydraulically controlled cam.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a powered hammer device including: a hammer with at least a first and a second projection; at least one translation dog adapted to engage with said projections, and a drive mechanism capable of moving the translation dog substantially reciprocally between a first and a second opposed directions, characterised in that the translation dog is adapted to engage with the first projection to move the hammer in the first direction, the translation dog then engaging the second projection to move the hammer in the reciprocal second direction.

Abstract: The invention relates to improvements to rock crushers, and in particular rotary impact rock crushers. The crushing chamber may be angled to achieve the desired rock product. Also disclosed is an anvil for use in crusher whereby the anvil position adjustable. The invention enables the operator to dial up a particular rock product specification by adjusting the angle of the crushing chamber and/or the position of the anvil. The adjustments may be made without ceasing the operation of the machine. Improved control over fracture mechanisms within the crushing chamber and as a consequence the rock product, are achievable with the present invention.
