  • Patent number: 5507547
Abstract: A vehicle roof having a glass lid is framed by a two-part lid frame, a glass pane of which is coated on its lower face with a thin, lattice-like sunshield, preferably applied by the screen printing process. A multilayer closure plate, slidably guided at the lateral longitudinal members of the lid frame, bears from below against the sunshield, the thin closure plate layers of which possess a corresponding lattice-like structure. The closure plate layers are displaceable upon one another and can be displaced or set one after another to provide an infinitely variable cover or exposure of the light apertures of large area of the sunshield. A drive apparatus provides for a corresponding displacement drive of the individual closure plate layers.

  • Patent number: 5409290
Abstract: In a glass lid (1) for a vehicle roof opening, the glass pane (2) is provided in its edge zone all around with a cast-on or foamed-on plastics border (3). At least at the longer sides of the glass pane (2), curved correspondingly to the roof curvature, stiffening profiles (4, 5) of steel, supporting the glass pane from below, are embedded into the border (3). The stiffening profiles (4, 5) have, before embedding, a curvature different from that of the glass pane and, in the completed lid (1), are elastically bent corresponding to the curvature of the glass pane so that they are embedded with prestress in the border (3), in order to counteract uplift forces acting upon the lid (1) while the vehicle is travelling, in the sense of maintaining the shape of the lid (1).

  • Patent number: 5326149
Abstract: A sliding-lifting roof of an automobile including a blocking device which prevent sliding movement during tilting movements thereof. The blocking device is not effective during sliding movements. The sliding-lifting roof is guided along guide rails fixed laterally to the roof opening by oppositely located forward and rear guide shoes. The roof is connected to the rear shoes by pivoting-out elements and is connected to the forward shoes in a manner allowing pivoting about a horizontal axis traverse to the direction of sliding. The blocking device includes a control rod attached to the rear guide shoe and slidably guided on the forward guide shoe. A detent element fitted to the forward guide shoe and actuated by the control rod may be engaged with a recess formed in the guide rail to prevent sliding during tilting movements.

  • Patent number: 5306069
Abstract: In a sliding roof for automobiles, comprising a non-slidable, front wind deflector, pivotal at its front edge in a roof opening, and a rear sliding lid, slidably guided in the roof opening, the roof opening is filled by the mutually adjoining surfaces of wind deflector and sliding lid when the roof is closed. For creating a ventilation gap of high effectiveness between the rear edge of the wind deflector and the front edge of the sliding lid in conjunction with an aerodynamically favourable small pivoting out angle of the wind deflector, it is provided that the sliding lid, starting from its closed position, is pivotally journalled about a pivot axis provided in the vicinity of its rear edge, in the sense of lowering its front edge. For the opening displacement, the sliding lid is also lowered at its rear edge, with the result that, with low overall depth of the roof construction, the lid is displaceable approximately in a parallel orientation to the roof surface beneath a rear roof surface.

  • Patent number: 5306070
Abstract: In a sliding-lifting roof or top sliding-lifting roof for automobiles, comprising a sliding lid (3) slidably guided on lateral guide rails and pivotal upwards by means of driven rear guide shoes for ventilation, the outward pivoting and inward pivoting take place through specially constructed guide blocks (56), fixed to the sliding lid (3), which cooperate with the rear guide shoes not only by guide slits (57) but also by control levers (63). In this way, in the interests of an improved stability of the lid, the outward pivoting and inward pivoting movements of the sliding lid (3) are divided into two movement phases, which are created, on the one hand, by the engagement, which can be cancelled, of guide pins (54) with the guide slits (57) in the guide blocks and, on the other hand, by the control levers (63), articulated to the rear guide shoes and connected rotatably and displaceably to the guide blocks (56).

  • Patent number: 5203605
Abstract: In a folding roof for an automobile, a front hood bar is moved by entraining elements driven by cables, which entraining elements can travel in curved transitions of lateral guide rails and simultaneously in curved control slits of control plates, slidable transversely on the front hood bar. The control slits run partly ascending towards the closure position, in order to create a downward displacement of the front hood bar as the roof is closed and an upward displacement of the hood bar as the roof is opened. The closing of the roof takes place with a continually decreasing speed of movement and continually increasing closure force, without any noticeable feedback effect upon the actuating force to be applied.

  • Patent number: 5039161
Abstract: In a sliding or sliding-lifting roof for a car, a lid, associated with a roof opening for the purpose of completely closing it, has a front edge which is wedge-shaped in cross-section. A sealing profile, sealingly filling the gap between the fixed vehicle roof and the lid when the lid is closed, is pushed from below onto a downward flange of the fixed vehicle roof and is deformable to form a trough, generally complementary in shape to the wedge shape. The wedge-shaped front edge here engages generally form-fittingly and force-transmittingly into the sealing profile, so that the lid, at its front edge due its engagement with the sealing profile, is reliably secured against high uplift forces, such as occur at high speeds of travel.

  • Patent number: 4813737
Abstract: A lid liner for a rigid lid of a sliding-lifting roof for an automobile includes a liner plate having a ventilation opening closed by a ventilation flap. The ventilation flap in its closed position lies flush at its lower with the lower face of the liner plate and possesses at its periphery a downwardly facing bearing surface, opposite to which there is a corresponding, upwardly facing counter-surface around the periphery of the ventilation opening. The two surfaces bear against each other without a gap in the closed position, thereby serving to enhance the appearance of the interior of the vehicle and to suppress the penetration of travel noise through the ventilation when closed by the ventilation flap.

  • Patent number: 4802707
Abstract: In a sliding roof for automobiles, comprising a sliding lid guided on guide rails in a roof opening, a lid liner, which participates in the lid displacements, is connected with the sliding lid by guide elements, which, during lowering movements of the sliding lid, simultaneously raise the lid liner and, during raising of the sliding lid into its closed position, simultaneously lower the lid liner until it lies flush with the fixed liner without any step. To prevent a gap from remaining in the closed position between the peripheral edges of the lid liner and fixed liner opening, which would make possible penetration of noise into the vehicle interior, it is provided that the peripheral edge of the lid liner possess a downwardly facing bearing surface, opposite which there is a correspondingly upwardly facing counter-surface at the peripheral edge of the fixed liner opening, in such a manner that the bearing surface and the counter-surface bear against each other without a gap in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4765676
Abstract: In a rigid lid for an automobile roof which, in its closed position, sealingly closes a roof opening out of which it can be displaced to at least partly expose it, a translucent or transparent lid plate is carried by an inner frame placed beneath it in its edge region, which inner frame projects beyond the edge of the lid plate and terminates there in a raised rim, onto which an edge gap sealing strip is pushed. For achieving a low overall depth of the lid accompanied by simple assembly and dismantling, a clamping bar is fixed to the inner frame, with which clamping bar an upper border frame is releasably engaged, which border frame securely holds, on the one hand the sealing strip in a manner preventing stripping-off and on the other hand the lid plate with respect to the inner frame. A further simplification of dismantling is achieved, according to a second form of embodiment, in that the inner frame is connected to the upper edge frame releasably by fixing screws.

  • Patent number: 4765447
Abstract: In the case of a wedge brake activating device for drum brakes of vehicles, the guidance of the rollers (13) contained in a roller cage (15)--which provide the positive [frictional] engagement between the wedge surfaces (12) and the slant surfaces (10)--located in the slots (9) of the push tappets (8) activating the brake shoes--is established exactly and with low friction at low manufacturing costs for the roller cage (15). In order to accomplish this, the rollers (13)--on the one hand--are guided tangentially between guidance surfaces (22) located on guidance protrusions (19, 20) of the roller cage (15) at their cylindrical circumferential surfaces (22), and they are guided axially--on the other hand--between axial guidance sections (24) located on the roller cage (15) and the sidewalls (11) of the slots (9), and the width of the expanding wedge (4) and the corresponding dimensions of the roller cage are in a determined way coordinated to the length of the rollers (13).
