Abstract: A golf club head comprising an integral toe, heel and center section, with the center section including a cavity. The center section is structured so that the majority of the weight of the golf club head is positioned at the toe and heel. One embodiment of the golf club head includes an insert located in the cavity and a second insert is located in the golf ball striking face of the golf club head. The inserts, alone and in combination, increase the feel transmitted through the golf club head to the golfer.

Abstract: A set of golf clubs of the “iron” type, each club having a head, said head having a rear face, said rear face having a cavity delimited by walls, namely at least one lower wall forming the sole and an upper wall, said upper wall having several faces, namely a rear face, an upper face, a lower face facing the cavity and lateral faces, in which several clubs of said set have a head which has at least one recess made in the upper wall and opening onto a single face of said upper wall, away from the upper and lower faces, and wherein, the volume and/or the position inside the upper wall of said at least one recess varies from one club to another within said set, so that the position of the center of gravity of each head varies from one club to another.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a golf club having a golf club head with a channel on the head. The golf club head may be a putter-type club head that is used to putt the golf ball on a green. The use of the channel on the club head provides a mass distribution that can result in a high moment of inertia so that the club head resists twisting in the player's hand when the club head strikes a golf ball. The channel also assists a player in aligning the club head to strike a golf ball. The channel may be located on the upper face of the club head so that the player can see the channel when addressing a golf ball with the golf club. The channel extends from a front, strike face of the club head to a rear face of the club head and is preferably aligned with an axis that corresponds to the desired direction of travel of a golf ball that is struck with the club head.

Abstract: A method of determining a bounce fitting for a golf club for use in sand for a particular golfer, by determining the relative hardness of golf course bunker sand in which the tests are conducted, having a golfer hit a golf ball from that sand thereby forming a divot, measuring the length of the divot, determining the relative depth of the divot, and correlating the divot length, divot depth and sand hardness to determine a desired bounce fitting. The divot length is measured with a device for designating a certain location from which a golf ball is to be hit and for measuring the length of a divot caused by hitting a golf ball from that location.

Abstract: A sand penetrability gauge for golf course bunker sand, having a probe shaft for penetrating into bulk sand, a weight or spring for reproducibly applying force to advance the probe shaft into bulk sand, the probe shaft being movably connected to the weight or spring, and measuring indicia associated with the probe shaft for measuring displacement of the probe shaft, with a cross-sectional area of the probe shaft and the force of the weight or spring selected so that the measuring indicia will provide a displacement measurement when the probe is driven into golf course sand bunker sand.

Abstract: A sole-tape for use in fitting lie-angle of an iron-type golf club to an individual golfer, comprising a strip of thin, adhesive backed tape having dimensions generally corresponding to the area of the sole of an iron-type golf club head, the tape having sufficient integrity and the adhesive having sufficient adhesive strength to withstand and maintain the sole-tape on the sole of a club head throughout at least one impact with a surface upon which a golf ball may rest, the tape having thereon gradation or graduation lines each extending from a longitudinal edge of the tape, the gradation lines curving concavely away from the end of said sole-tape corresponding to the toe of the golf club, with spacing between adjacent gradation lines corresponding to a correlated amount of lie-angle correction, and a location marking for alignment of the sole tape with a certain feature on a golf club head.
