Abstract: Methods, devices and servers for assisting in financial transaction fraud detection are described. In one aspect, a method for notifying of a roaming status of an electronic device is described. The method is implemented by a wireless service provider server associated with a wireless service provider. The electronic device is associated with a subscription service package of the wireless service provider. The method includes: detecting a roaming condition associated with the electronic device; and after detecting the roaming condition, retrieving financial institution information associated with the electronic device, the financial institution information identifying a financial institution, and sending a notification of the roaming status of the electronic device to a financial institution server associated with the identified financial institution.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for facilitating a connection are described. In one aspect, a method for facilitating a connection between a public internet protocol (IP) address allocated remote management server (RMS) and private IP address allocated customer-premises equipment (CPE) devices that are serviced by a home gateway device (HGD) is described. The CPE devices are located within a different type of network than the RMS. The HGD implements the method which includes: receiving, from an operation support system, a request to download a service module stored on a storage server, the request including an identifier associated with a CPE device; in response to receiving the request, downloading the service module from the storage server; initiating the downloaded service module on the HGD; and in response to initiating the service module, instructing an identified CPE device based on the identifier to establish the connection with the RMS via the HGD.

Abstract: A system and method of monitoring content stored at a plurality of locations in a location set are provided. The method comprises: determining two or more historic attributes for a first feature associated with each location; for each location in the location set, determining a first predicted attribute for the first feature associated with that location based on the historic attributes for that first feature and that location; determining a monitoring schedule in accordance with the first predicted attribute; and monitoring the content at the locations in the location set according to the monitoring schedule.

Abstract: Described is a method of managing the bonding of transmissions over a legacy transmission system and over a new transmission system, the legacy transmission system comprising a legacy Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), the new transmission system comprising a new CMTS and configured to transmit data using a new mode, the method comprising: receiving data at the new CMTS, the data comprising an identification of a receiver as a destination for the data, the legacy receiver configured to receive data transmitted using the legacy mode; monitoring an output of the legacy CMTS; and determining, based on the monitored output, whether to route the data to the legacy CMTS to transmit to the receiver.

Abstract: Described are methods and devices for detecting cable network interference on a wireless network. In one aspect, disclosed is a method, performed by a processor of a cable interference detection device, of detecting interference in a wireless network caused by a cable network. The method includes: obtaining a signal signature of a wireless signal received at a receiver of a mobile communication device, the signal signature being a fast fourier transform representation of the wireless signal; and determining that the wireless signal represents interference caused by the cable network by comparing the signal signature to a cable network signal signature.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of paging an electronic device when the electronic device is in an idle state, the method comprising: determining a time; determining a primary tracking area that is associated with a time period in a profile of the electronic device, wherein the time period comprises the determined time; and transmitting a paging message to the electronic device in one or more target tracking area, the one or more target tracking area comprising the primary tracking area.

Abstract: Methods and devices are described for managing the use of system resources in a wireless network. In one aspect, a method is performed by a wireless network system associated with a wireless network. The method provides upstream communications from an electronic device to the wireless network. The method includes: identifying a set of carriers that may be used together without causing an intermodulation product that falls within one or more active pass-bands associated with a receiver of the electronic device; and scheduling a carrier aggregated upstream communication from the electronic device to the wireless network using the identified set of carriers, the carrier aggregated upstream communication being an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing communication.

Abstract: Methods and devices are described for provisioning embedded universal integrated circuit cards (EUICCs). A certification server may store records for each EUICC containing provisioned profile data. A regulatory domain server may govern a regulatory domain containing a plurality of mobile network operators (MNOs) and may assist with provisioning wireless devices containing EUICCs. The EUICC may store a hierarchy of profiles, including a device profile, a regulatory domain profile, and/or an MNO profile. The EUICC may include a fully-qualified domain name for the certification server, the device installation server, and/or the regulatory domain server so as to trigger provisioning or re-provisioning over an IP connection.

Abstract: Profiling systems and methods of creating and using user interest profiles are described. In some example embodiments, the method includes: creating a topic set which includes topics which are organized in a hierarchical structure which includes a plurality of topic levels including an upper topic level and a lower topic level, each topic in the lower topic level being a subtopic of at least one of the topics in the upper topic level; monitoring interest in a plurality of documents for a user to identify one or more documents-of-interest to the user; and based on the monitored interest for the user, creating an interest profile for the user by determining a measure of topical interest for the user for at least one of the topics at the upper topic level and for a subtopic of that topic, the subtopic being at the lower topic level.

Abstract: A dynamic watermark generation method and system in which the dynamic watermark may have a default length or a shorter length, and wherein the dynamic watermark is generated to have the determined length. The dynamic watermark is a locally-unique code that is used as an index to a database entry that identifies the subscriber that requested the media asset. In some instances, the entry may include a timestamp, a subscriber device identifier such as a MAC address or IP address, a subscriber identifier or ID number, and a media asset identifier such as a static ID. The static ID may include a code that indicates whether the dynamic watermark is of a default length or shorter. The length of the dynamic watermark may be partly based upon projected audience size for the requested media asset.

In one aspect, the method comprises: identifying, at a comment association system, one or more key terms from at least a portion of the one or more primary electronic documents; identifying, at the comment association system, one or more comments associated with the identified key terms; determining, at the comment association system, whether an identified comment is sufficiently related to the one or more primary electronic documents by calculating one or more relation score for that identified comment and comparing the relation score to one or more threshold; and if the identified comment is sufficiently related to the one or more primary electronic documents, then associating the identified comment with the one or more primary electronic documents at the comment association system.

Abstract: A document clustering system and method of assigning a document to a cluster of documents containing related content are provided. Each cluster is associated with a cluster summary describing the content of the documents in the cluster. The method comprises: determining, at a document clustering system, whether the document should be grouped with one or more previously created cluster summaries, the previously created cluster summaries being stored in a memory in a B-tree data structure; and if it is determined that the document should not be grouped with the one or more previously created cluster summaries, then creating, at a document clustering system, a cluster summary based on the content of the document and storing the created cluster summary in the B-tree data structure.

Abstract: A system, device and method for service insertion during a video display. A client device detects a video request input, and in response, selects and initiates an advanced service asset while the player buffers the requested video data. The output of the player is displayed in a background field while the media display data of the advanced service asset is displayed in a foreground field. The player display data may be brought to the foreground after a preset time or when the player is ready to display the requested video.

The method comprises: receiving an ingress codec profile and an identification of a destination; determining whether there is a matching codec pair that includes a codec that is identified in both the ingress codec profile and one or more egress codec profile; identifying one or more compatible codec pairs between the codecs listed in the ingress codec profile and the codecs listed in the egress codec profiles associated with egress trunk groups; prioritizing a list of codec pairs, each codec pair in the list of codec pairs comprising a codec identified in the ingress codec profile and a codec identified in an egress codec profile; and, selecting one trunk group from the egress trunk group list, the selected trunk group having a codec profile that comprises a codec from a codec pair in the prioritized list of codec pairs.

Abstract: A method and document separation system for separating a set of related documents is described. In one aspect, the method comprises: determining, on a document selection system, quality scores for a plurality of the documents in the set of related documents; obtaining a similarity score for a plurality of pairs of documents in the set of related document; and on a document selection system, obtaining a first subset of related documents which solves an optimization problem, the first subset of related documents including a portion of the document in the set of related documents, the optimization problem being a function of one or more quality scores of the documents assigned to the first subset of related documents and one or more similarity scores of pairs of documents assigned to the first subset of related documents.

Abstract: A method and device for displaying an electronic program guide on a handheld device. The guide includes a plurality of tiles, each tile associated with a television program. The device receives a related content request input through its touchscreen and, in response, sends a related content request message to a gateway server over a wireless network connection, the related content request message includes information identifying one of the plurality of programs. The device receives and displays related media content from the gateway server in reply to the related content request message.

Abstract: A phrase identification system and method are provided. The method comprises: identifying one or more phrase candidates in the electronic document; selecting one of the phrase candidates; numerically representing features of the selected phrase candidates to obtain a numeric feature representation associated with that phrase candidate; and inputting the numeric feature representation into a machine learning classifier, the machine learning classifier being configured to determine, based on each numeric feature representation, whether the phrase candidate associated with that numeric feature representation is a phrase.
