    Abstract: The disclosed process consists in filling the gap between a billet and the wall of a sectional mould with a molten slag in at least two stages. When the first portion is poured in, the gaps between the sections of the mould are filled. Once the slag in the gaps is solidified completely, voltage is supplied and the second and next portions of the slag are added. The creation of an electromagnetic field inside the mould takes place following the starting of the cladding process. The liquid metal is then added for the cladding process, which is carried out by means of the stable rotation of the slag and metal. The process can be carried out with varying levels of slag inside the current-carrying part of the mould. The billet can be preheated at the short-circuiting conditions prior to the cladding process.

First and second terminals are provided which are respectively electrically joined to the first and second slip ring members, with the terminals extending axially of the body and outwardly of an end of the body which is adjacent to the first slip ring member. The configuration of the body of the assembly is such that it can be very efficiently injection molded, with the slip ring members and terminal elements thereafter positioned on the body for completing fabrication of the assembly.

    Abstract: The elevation and angle of a desk top are independently adjustable with the exertion of a minimum of manual force, thereby facilitating the use of the desk by handicapped or disabled persons. The desk is provided with a torsion bar to substantially ease elevational adjustments and with a parallel lever arm construction which permits such adjustments without changing the angle of the desk top. The height and tilt angle of the desk top are each securely fixed by means of a pair of serrated, interlocking discs which are spring loaded to permit them to be easily locked or unlocked with only a few turns of an adjustment handle. In addition, frictional washers are utilized in conjunction with this spring loading to substantially maintain the position of the desk top even after the discs are unlocked, further facilitating angular and elevational adjustments by persons of impaired physical strength.

    Abstract: A method of extruding a coating or sheath onto an elongated support which comprises radially feeding the material into an inlet end of an extrusion head and decompressing, homogenizing, decompressing and compacting the material around a sleeve which surrounds the support. Then the material is expanded radially and then deposited in the form of a sheath on the elongated support. The plastic material flows under pressure and the sheath moves toward the exit pulling with it the elongated support on which it is deposited. In the final portion of the extrusion head the sheath is guided and pressed onto the support to form a homogeneous coating of predetermined thickness. The coated articles may have a tubular or rectangular profile or be in the form of ribbons, wires, or cables, and particularly coated cylinders which may be solid or hollow.
