Abstract: A small animal habitat having a base and removable hood composed of a plurality of lune-shaped hood sections that are movable with respect to one another enabling them to be nested one above another so that the front and/or back of the hood may be opened. Hubs that connect the hood sections together and mount the hood to the base also define passages for the animal in and out of habitat and provide access to other habitat components.

Abstract: A topical gel matrix that can be used alone or combination with a medication entrapped therein. The gel matrix is dispersible in water. The gel may have the following composition: oil, water or aqueous solution; solvents, surfactants and/or detergents; and a polymer which is a consistence modifier capable of thickening and to resist degradation in a water environment. The matrix may comprise or not a biologically active ingredient for a systemic or topical indication. Amongst preferred medications are anaesthetic, anti-histaminic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-UVs, anti-microbial and wound healing agents. More specifically, for the treatment of fish infections, examples of preferred active ingredients are natural or synthetic plants extracts.

Abstract: A drinking fountain for pets has a base with a water receptacle therein and a dome-shaped reserve water tank on the base. A drinking bowl on the top of the tank and a pump system for conveying water in the receptacle to the drinking bowl. Water pumped into the bowl overflows the bowl and flows down over a portion of the surface of the reserve water tank and returns to the receptacle. When the water in the receptacle falls below a predetermined level, water from the reserve tank automatically flow from the tank to the receptacle to increase the water to the prescribed level.

Abstract: A bird cage having a wire grille upper portion and a base assembly. A portion of the base assembly may be made of a light impervious material such as a transparent or translucent material. A plurality of connectors may be used to secure the wire grille panels together. In one embodiment, the footprint of the base assembly is larger than the footprint of the wire grille upper portion of the cage. One or more feeding stations may be provided inside of the cage with a door located on the cage to access the feeding stations. The feeding stations may be arranged in a locked position such that a bird inside the cage cannot tip over or spill the contents of a feeding station.

Abstract: A light assembly for enclosed animal habitats, such as terrariums and aquariums, is provided. The assembly includes a light source, and a reflective luminous surface arranged with respect to the light source to absorb energy from the light source while the light source is turned on, and to emit the stored light for a finite period of time after the light source is turned off. The light assembly is designed to simulate natural light. In one embodiment, the light assembly includes a fixture that generally resembles a conventional light fixture with a reflector, socket and power source connection, with the reflector having a highly reflective, luminous coating that continues to glow to direct light and/or heat to the interior of the habitat after the lamp or heater is turned off.

A bird cage stand composed of two identical but inverse sub-assemblies provides storage space for feed and cage accessories.

The pet can drink from the dish or lap water flowing down the tank surface. When the level of water in the well falls below a prescribed level, water from the tank is discharged into the well. A food dish may also be added to the structure.

Magnetically attracting components are disposed in each portion of the rock for releasable holding the two portions in registration with one another on opposite sides of the transparent side wall of the terrarium. An access to and from the cavity from outside of the rock is provided in one portion of the rock surface other than the flat face.
