  • Publication number: 20150297014
Abstract: A bracket system for window dressing includes two brackets configured to be attached to an architectural member, such as a window well, a wall or a ceiling and receive the ends of window dressings. The brackets have edges adapted to receive a fascia designed to hide the window dressing. Preferably, the fascia has a front wall designed to snap onto the brackets and is sized so that it extends above the brackets to provide a neater and cleaner look. The fascia may be L-shaped with a vertical and a horizontal member and the brackets may be configured so that the horizontal member attaches either to the top or to the bottom of the brackets.

  • Patent number: 8695680
Abstract: A device for disabling a window treatment operated by a cord includes at least one member with a gear engaging the cord. When the cord is not tensioned correctly, the gear of the member intermeshes with teeth on another member impeding movement of the cord along its length. In one embodiment, two gears engage different sections of the cord and intermesh with each other. In another embodiment, a stationary member intermeshes with the gear of member selectively pivoted by the cord in accordance with the tension on the cord.

  • Patent number: 8579004
Abstract: The present application pertains to a system for adjusting the height of a covering, such as window or a wall covering formed of two or more covering segments that are axially aligned. The system includes a link that selectively transmits rotation between two adjacent coverage thereby allowing the two coverings to be controlled, e.g., raised or lowered, simultaneously. The link includes a clutch that allows one of the segments to be rotated with respect to the other so that the bottom end of one of the coverings can be adjusted and aligned horizontally independently of the other. Optionally, the clutch includes an internal member that provides a mechanical advantage while the one covering is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 8025089
Abstract: A lifting system for a window covering has a movable shaft disposed within a cradle that is held within a head rail. The movable shaft has an end portion and a lift cord wrapping portion. A lift cord is connected to the movable shaft. A transition member is disposed between the end portion and the lift cord wrapping portion. The transition member acts as a ramp to facilitate migration of the lift cord to the lift cord wrapping portion once bird nesting has occurred.

  • Patent number: 7137430
Abstract: The invention includes apparatus for controlling the lift and tilt of a horizontal window blind. A tilting drum, conic cord-gathering shaft, torsion spring and support cradle may be combined to provide lift and tilt adjustment with a single rotational control. An angular surface near one end of the cord-gathering shaft deflects winding coils of a lifting cord down the length of the cone. The torsion spring and spring stops in the device allow tilt adjustment to take place in conjunction with the rotation of the cord-gathering shaft. The preferred embodiment includes a cord cover to guide the coils as the diameter of the cord-gathering shaft decreases.

  • Patent number: 6981539
Abstract: A window treatment support, such as a support for a cellular shade and other kinds of shades, includes a head rail, a clutch mounted on the head rail to support and operate a window treatment; and a cord engaging the clutch for selectively raising and lowering the window treatment. The clutch includes a pulley having a plurality of radial teeth defining a space sized to receive the cord. At least some of the teeth including a flexible projection forming an interference fit with the cord. The head rail is a bottom wall shaped to maximize the size of the clutch without substantially affecting the size of the head rail.

  • Patent number: 6935401
Abstract: Generally speaking, in accordance with the invention, an improved window treatment system is provided. The system includes a head rail, a spring clutch disposed at one end of the head rail and an idler disposed at the other end of the head rail. Significantly, a pair of universal brackets, one coupled to the spring clutch and the other coupled to the idler, are used. Each bracket is suitable for fixedly mounting either the clutch or the idler at either end of the head rail. The brackets are identical.

  • Patent number: 6854503
Abstract: The invention includes an unbalanced horizontal blind with a spring means to provide a lifting or retraction force for the slats of the blinds. A brake means prevents undesired movement of the slats that would otherwise result from the continuous retraction force of the spring means when the slats are set in a desired position. Controls for the release of the brake means and tilting are also provided in an embodiment of a blind of the invention. An embodiment of the invention permits the blind to be operated by a single wand that can be used to either raise the slats or tilt the slats. This eliminates the need for a loose cord or bead chain that would traditionally be used as the user interface for controlling the movement of the slats of the blind.

Abstract: A cassette system for window treatment includes a head rail with a base, end brackets attached to the base in a facing relationship and at least one roller blind with a mandrel and a decorative panel that is wound on the mandrel. The panel can be selectively drawn off the mandrel by rotation thereof. The end brackets are identical and mate with end plugs on the mandrel to rotationally support the roller blind. In an alternate embodiment, two or more roller blinds are supported by intermediate brackets or by an intermediate bracket and an end bracket. The end plugs on the madrel(s) have identical shapes to mate with respective legs on the end brackets.
