    Abstract: An in-line skate is disclosed having a rigid frame with a platform and having a boot with a shell. The shell includes a sole. Two longitudinal parallel rails extend downwardly from a lower side of the platform. A plurality of in-line skate wheels are secured to the frame. An upper side of the platform has first, second and third recesses in toe, heel and intermediate portions of the platform, respectively. A lower side of the sole of the boot has first, second and third projections in toe, heel and intermediate portions of the sole, respectively. The first, second and third projections of the sole matingly engage the first, second and third recesses of the platform, respectively, when the boot is coupled to the frame. Fasteners secure the boot to the frame at the first, second and third recesses of the frame. A block is disclosed including top and bottom sides. Sidewalls extend between the top and bottom sides.

    Abstract: A cuff buckling apparatus to ease the buckling of an in-line skate or other boot having a cuff is provided. The in-line skate includes a boot having front and back portions corresponding to the front and back of a skater's leg, and medial and lateral portions corresponding to the medial side and lateral side of the skater's leg respectively. A leg cuff encases the back, medial and lateral portions of the boot, and includes a cuff flap originating proximate the medial portion of the boot. The cuff flap has sufficient length to cross the front portion of the boot when folded over the front of the boot. A buckle lever is coupled to the leg cuff proximate the lateral portion of the boot, and a buckle strap is mounted to the buckle lever. A buckle strap latching mechanism attaches to the cuff flap, and engages the free end of the buckle strap. The leg cuff is tightened around the skater's leg upon actuating the buckle lever.

    Abstract: A braking apparatus is provided for a skate which comprises a shoe composed of at least one quarter connected to a shell associated with a supporting frame for a plurality of wheels. The braking apparatus includes a braking element connected to a rear portion of the supporting frame adjacent the wheels. A brake arm is connected between the quarter of the skate and the braking element. The brake arm includes a first member and a second member connected together with the first member moveable with respect to the second member. The brake arm includes a switch mechanism operable between a first and second position. Upon activation of the switch mechanism from the first position to the second position, the first member of the brake arm moves away from the second member of the brake arm such that the length of the brake arm is increased and the braking element is positioned lower with respect to the wheels of the skate.

A central axis of rotation passes through the center of the bore. The hub also includes first and second anchors extending radially outward from the core and disposed in axially spaced-apart relation such that an outwardly opening channel is defined between the first and second anchors. The first anchor includes a plurality of first radial projections separated by first spacing gaps. The second anchor includes a plurality of second radial projections separated by second spacing gaps. The first and second radial projections are staggered relative to each other about the central axis of rotation such that the first radial projections are aligned with the second spacing gaps and the second radial projections are aligned with the first spacing gaps.
