    Abstract: The improved hockey stick shaft is of elongated tubular configuration, rectangular in cross section, and having opposite open ends. The tubular shaft is formed by pultrusion of a plurality of discrete layers of bondable material including at least one layer of random strand mat glass fibers, at least two layers of 0.degree./90.degree. balanced plain weave glass fiber fabric, at least two layers of .+-.45.degree. balanced stitched layered glass fiber fabric, at least one layer of 0.degree. unidirectional carbon fiber roving, and at least one layer of 0.degree. unidirectional glass fiber roving. The layers can be bonded together by a suitable resin, preferably an epoxy resin. When desired, aramid fiber materials can be substituted, in whole or in part, for the corresponding glass fiber and/or carbon fiber materials.
