    Abstract: A system for mounting a stanchion on a structure includes a base plate, a stanchion coupled to the base plate, and a number of base plate flanges coupled to the base plate. The base plate flanges to couple the base plate to at least one joist of the structure. The stanchion protrudes through the surface of the structure to a first side of the structure while the base plate and the base plate flanges remain on a second side of the surface of the structure.
