Abstract: A heating/ventilating/air conditioning (HVAC) air duct cleaning system with certain improvements having a system housing containing a vacuum-generating subsystem, a rotating motor with an output shaft, and a debris reservoir; a hose connection panel on the system housing positioned at an angle of approximately 45 degrees from horizontal; and a hose coupler on the hose connection panel, configured to receive a duct cleaning hose and to transfer rotational energy from the output shaft to a connection end of a rotatable cable when received into the guide portion, wherein the coupler provides coaxial alignment between the guide portion and the output shaft.

Abstract: A improved drive mechanism for coupling a rotatable drive cable to a remote tool, especially for a heating/ventilating/air conditioning (HVAC) air duct cleaning system, having an angled inlet for connecting a remote tool via a rotatable cable, a cable connector guide aligned with the angled inlet for receiving a connection end of the rotatable cable, and a motor such as a brushless direct current (DC) motor with a direct-drive coupling to the connection end of the rotatable connector.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning ducts of a heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) system is provided. In one embodiment, a pod has a vacuum chamber therein, a drive motor located within the pod and configured to receive a removable drive shaft therein, and a conduit member located within the pod adjacent the drive motor. The conduit member has a vacuum inlet opening at an exterior wall of the pod and a drive shaft exit opening formed in the conduit member through which the removable drive shaft can extend. In one embodiment, the invention comprises a man-portable pod and a cart removably-coupleable to the man-portable pod. A method of manufacturing the apparatus and a method of cleaning an HVAC duct is also provided.

Abstract: Duct cleaning accessories for use with a heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) duct cleaning system having a vacuum source, a vacuum hose, a drive motor, a cleaning brush, and a driveshaft having a first driveshaft end. In one embodiment, the duct cleaning accessories comprise a flexible shaft and a vacuum nozzle. In a preferred embodiment, the flexible shaft is a flexible driveshaft extension having first and second driveshaft extension ends. The first driveshaft extension end is coupleable to the first driveshaft end and the second driveshaft extension end is coupleable to the cleaning brush. A method of manufacturing the accessories is also provided.
