Patent number: 7363882Abstract: A condensation removal apparatus is disclosed. The condensation removal apparatus is used with a hot water heater wherein the hot water heater produces a fuel exhaust. The fuel exhaust from the hot water heater is provided to a draft inducer through an inlet which includes a thermally conductive plate having a hole through which the fuel exhaust flows. The draft inducer mixes ambient air with the fuel exhaust and reduces the temperature of the mixture as compared to the fuel exhaust. The mixture is directed to an outlet of the draft inducer and through piping into another environment. As the mixture cools, condensation forms within the piping. The condensation drips back down through the draft inducer. The condensation is then directed onto the thermally conductive plate. Since the thermally conductive plate maintains a high temperature, the condensation is turned from a liquid form into a gaseous form and is directed back through the draft inducer to the outlet.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2005Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Comair Rotron, Inc.Inventors: Fred A. Patent number: 7245096Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the speed of a DC electric motor receives a periodic commutation signal having a fixed duration on cycle and an off cycle. The commutation signal then is modified to form a periodic modified commutation signal having substantially the same period duration as the commutation signal. The modified commutation signal has a single on cycle per period. The method and apparatus then determine a desired speed of the motor, and vary the duration of the on cycle of the commutation signal to form the on cycle of the modified commutation signal. The on cycle of the modified commutation signal has a duration that is less than the fixed duration. By varying in this manner, the rotor rotates at substantially the desired speed.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2005Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Comair Rotron, Inc.Inventor: Jaime Echazarreta

Patent number: 6136250Abstract: An apparatus and method of fabricating an electric motor encapsulates the major assemblies of the motor in protective encapsulating material. The method begins by assembling a blade and housing, a motor stator, a motor rotor and associated control circuitry into a complete electric fan. The operational characteristics of the complete fan are then tested to verify proper operation. The blade and rotor assemblies are then removed from the complete fan so that a mold may be positioned onto the fan. Encapsulating material is injected into the mold so as to encase the fan in the encapsulating material. The mold is removed and the blade and rotor assemblies are reinserted. Embodiments may use various encapsulating materials such as urethanes, silicones, or epoxies.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1998Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Comair Rotron, Inc.Inventor: Fred A.
