Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for enabling a first user to set up an alert that will notify the first user when the first user has caught up to a second user's progress in consuming media. These systems and methods are used to ensure that the first user is informed, while they are consuming media, that they have caught up to the progress of a second user. By providing an alert while the first user is viewing media, the first user does not have to remember the progress of the second user while viewing the media, alleviating the first user from worrying they will pass the progress made by the second user without realizing they have done so.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and an apparatus are provided for presenting an option to purchase an NFT based on a scene of a media asset to an advertiser. One example computer-implemented method includes obtaining, from a first source, a scene of a media asset, determining that the scene comprises a product, obtaining, from a second source, a non-fungible token (NFT) based on the scene, matching the NFT to an advertiser based on the product, and presenting an option to purchase the matched NFT to the advertiser.

Abstract: Systems and methods describe presenting media to a user at a user device, determining a location relevant to the media, determining whether the user has visited a vicinity of the location by searching through information related to the user, and based on to determining that the user has visited the vicinity of the location searching through the user's personal collection of media in a time window corresponding to the user's visit to retrieve personal media related to the location, and generating for display, based on the searching, a list of personal media related to the location relevant to the media being presented at the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting a number of viewers of a media device are disclosed. The methods comprise generating for display on the media device a media asset, initiating a first scan while displaying the media asset for nearby user devices within a detectable range, determining a number of nearby user devices, determining a direction and distance from the media device to each of the user devices, and determining the number of viewers of the media device currently consuming the media asset, based on the distance and direction of the user devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein to provide information to a user based on a communication from a user associated with multiple media assets. Based on the chronology of the media assets, one is selected and recommended to the user.

Abstract: Methods and systems for processing subjective queries are described. A query is received from a user. The method involves determining whether the query is subjective. In response to determining that the query is subjective, a plurality of people qualified to answer the query are identified. Moreover, a subset of the plurality of people who are available to answer the query are identified, and the query is transmitted to the subset of people available to answer the query. The received responses to the transmitted query from each of the people in the subset are then generated for display.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for identifying, using a sensor, a location of an object in an environment, and determining a classification of the object. A human may be identified in proximity with the object, an identity of the human may be determined, and a determination may be made that a hazardous condition may occur, based on a combination of the location of the object, the classification of the object, and the identity of the human in proximity with the object. In response to determining that the hazardous condition may occur, an augmented reality scene associated with the potentially hazardous condition associated with the object may be generated for presentation, at a user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for controlling mobile devices with user equipment devices. A user equipment device may detect a mobile device is within a predetermined proximity to the user equipment device by establishing a bi-directional communication. The user equipment device may determine an input/output option of the mobile device. The input/output option may be a microphone, a cellular Internet connection, a camera, or any other sensor and/or actuator of the mobile device. The user equipment device may generate for display an icon corresponding to the input/output option of the mobile device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing voice interactions based on user context. Data is received that causes a voice interaction to be generated for output at a user device. In response, current user contextual data of the user device is retrieved. A user availability level for consuming the voice interaction is determined based on the current user contextual data. The voice interaction is altered based on the user availability level. Content of the voice interaction may be altered to be suitable for consumption. The altered voice interaction is outputted at the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for switching computing devices between edge servers and peer groups. One example method includes receiving, at a client computing device and from a first computing device, media content. A request to initiate an assisted delivery service is sent from the client computing device to a second computing device. The assisted delivery service is initiated in response to the request. The assisted delivery service comprises identifying, at the second computing device, one or more peer computing devices receiving the media content. At the second computing device, instructions that enable the client computing device to discover at least one of the peer computing devices are generated. The instructions are sent from the second computing device to the client computing device. At the client computing device, a peer computing device is discovered. A request to receive a portion of the media content is sent from the client computing device to a discovered peer computing device.

Abstract: Insertion of supplemental content into a virtual environment is automated using a machine learning model. The machine learning model is trained to calculate a confidence value that a candidate virtual object fits into a virtual environment based on an input that includes a candidate virtual object, a list of persistent virtual objects, and a list of temporary virtual objects. The machine learning model is trained using the persistent and temporary objects displayed in the current virtual environment until it predicts that a selected virtual object fits into the current virtual environment. The trained machine learning model is then used to select a virtual object comprising supplemental content to be inserted as a new virtual object in the virtual environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for generating an augmented reality (“AR”) display with user interface (“UI”) elements that respond to changes in pupil characteristics in response to detecting device streaming content. A media stream playing on a device that is within a threshold distance of the AR device is detected. The source of the media stream is identified. The AR device queries the source of the media stream for a consumption option. An AR overlay is generated and comprises selectable UI elements corresponding to the consumption options. In response to receiving an input at a UI element, the AR overlay is generated based on the consumption option.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending content restrictions to a user based on chatter in a social network of the user. The system analyzes chatter in the social network to identify a correlation between what is posted by users and the content that the users are posting about. The system stores a mapping between chatter and expected attributes of the content referenced by the chatter. The system will determine whether to block the content when an expected attribute is associated with a content restriction.

Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing content recommendations. The system receives a plurality of sets of range values, each of which corresponds to a respective one of a plurality of parameters for recommending the content. The system selects different values within each of the plurality of sets of range values over time and provides a plurality of content recommendations to users based on the selected different values. The system then analyze users' behavior in response to the provided plurality of content recommendations. The system further updates at least one set of range values based on the analyzed users' behavior.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for resolving a meaning of an ambiguous calendar entry and recommending broadcast media based on the meaning. To this end, a media guidance application may detect a calendar entry specific to a user, and determine that the calendar entry is ambiguous with respect to an associated period of time. In response to determining that the calendar entry is ambiguous with respect to the associated period of time, the media guidance application may determine characteristics of the calendar entry and the user, and compute an estimated range of time corresponding to the calendar entry based on the characteristic of the calendar entry and the characteristic of the user. The media guidance application may then generate for display a recommendation of broadcast media based on the estimated range of time.

A time when a request to consume a content item is likely to be received is identified and an identifier of the content item is displayed on a device. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for media quality selection of media assets based on internet service provider data usage limits. One disclosed technique herein discusses receiving a data usage limit from an internet service provider. The data usage limit includes maximum data usage for particular user account data. A media asset is selected from a media streaming server that includes a plurality of qualities having respective data sizes (e.g., for video quality—4K, 1080p, etc.) A determination is made whether a selected data size from a selected quality of the plurality of qualities of the selected media asset exceeds remaining data of the received data usage limit. If so, a request is transmitted to the to the media streaming server to retrieve the selected media asset with a quality having a data size smaller than the respective data size.

Abstract: The system and methods described allow a content delivery application to provide temporary access to a content item for display on a content access device based on a user obtaining access to the content item initially on another system. The content delivery application receives content accessed confirmation that user access a content item and then monitors whether that access was interrupted. If the access was interrupted, the content delivery application generates a content access bookmark based on a content timeline and stores a content access authorization comprising the content access bookmark and an identifier from the profile. When the user requests the content item, the content delivery application transmits access information corresponding to segments of the content item, based on the content access bookmark to a user's device.
