Abstract: A ligature for a woodwind mouthpiece includes a ligature strap with a carbon fiber portion and at least one flexible strap portion attached to and extending from the carbon fiber portion along one of the side edges. The flexible strap portion is folded over to form two layers of flexible strap, and a pair of rods are disposed between the two layers of one of the flexible strap portions. A closure mechanism passes through the flexible strap portion and each rod.

Abstract: A ligature strap for a mouthpiece includes a plurality of kerfs extending at least partially along each one of a plurality of parallel lines running across the ligature strap with at least two separate kerfs extending along a common line in the plurality of parallel lines. The ligature strap includes a central portion and two ends portions extending at an angle from the central portion. The parallel lines extend into the end portions and kerfs are disposed on the parallel lines in the end portions.

Abstract: An adjustable, collapsible and extensible instrument stand includes a base, at least one riser releasably attached to the base and extending upward from the base and a grasper attached to the riser to fasten a musical instrument to the instrument stand. The grasper is moveable along the riser to change a distance between the grasper and the base.

Abstract: A woodwind mouthpiece has a tone chamber in communication with a central bore running through the mouthpiece and a window exposing the tone chamber. A table is located at a first end of the window, and a tip rail is located at a second end of the window opposite the first end. A pair of side rails run along opposite sides of the window from the table to the tip rail. Each side rail includes a side rail top surface. A pair of flanges are provided in the mouthpiece such that each flange extending out from one of the side rail top surfaces in a direction opposite the window. This arrangement reduces the intensity of the shock fronts at the aperture into the tone chamber.

Abstract: An improved mouthpiece for use with single reed woodwind instruments is provided. The transition from the top surfaces of the side rails to the exterior of the mouthpiece includes a chamfer extending along a portion of each side rail to achieve a venturi effect between the top surfaces and the reed at the region of the tone chamber adjacent the tip rail.

Abstract: A woodwind mouthpiece has a tone chamber with a bottom surface and a window. A table extends along an outer surface of the mouthpiece, and a pair of side rails extends from the table along opposite sides of the window. A removable tone chamber insert is disposed in the tone chamber in contact with the bottom surface and the interior surface of each side rail. The tone chamber insert modifies at least one of a tone chamber width defined by a distance between the interior surfaces of the side rails and a bottom surface width defined by a distance between the interior surfaces of the side rails at the bottom surface. In addition, a v-shaped notch extends into the table from the side rail top surfaces at least about 50% of the length of the table. the v-shaped notch defines an angle of at least about 15 degrees.
