Abstract: A soleplate for a clothes pressing iron, composed of: a metal sheet having a lower surface that will be directed toward fabrics to be ironed, a lower surface layer that extends form the lower surface and an interior region that is separated from the lower surface by the lower surface layer, the lower surface layer being mechanically hammer-hardened, or work hardened, to have a hardness greater than the hardness of the sheet prior to being mechanically hardened; and a coating that is hard and resistant to scratching covering the lower surface.
Abstract: A steel or stainlees steel soleplate for a pressing iron having a working surface that will be in contact with articles to be pressed when the pressing iron is in use. The soleplate has, at the working surface, crystal grains that have been deformed by compression applied perpendicular to the working surface, the number of dislocations per unit of volume being at least 40% greater than that of the metal at the interior of the soleplate.
Abstract: A steam iron composed of: a metal heating body containing a chamber that has a steam generating zone; a water flow path in communication with the chamber, the water flow path including a compartment containing a quantity of a scale reducing agent that is contacted by water flowing along the path before the water reaches the chamber; and a screen made of a metal different from that of the heating body and disposed in proximity to the steam generating zone at a location to be traversed by steam generated in the steam generating zone.
Abstract: A water reservoir for a clothes pressing iron, the reservoir being composed of two plastic parts, and a method for fabricating the reservoir by: simultaneously molding the two parts of one reservoir in a first injection molding step in two impressions of the same mold; and assembling the two parts together while, in a second injection molding step, injection molding a joint of plastic material between the two parts to connect the two parts together in a fluid-tight manner, wherein the two parts are assembled together and the second injection molding step is performed before complete crystallization of the two parts.
Abstract: A filling orifice structure in a clothes pressing iron having a water reservoir, the structure having: an orifice body providing a filling orifice for filling the reservoir; a closing piece mounted for movement between an open position for opening said filling orifice and a closed position for closing the filling orifice; and at least one sealing joint overmolded onto the orifice body and disposed to provide a fluid seal between the body and the closing piece.

Abstract: The invention provides a drip valve having few parts. The drip valve is arranged between the water tank and the evaporation chamber. An adjustment part is mounted in the handle and has an eccentric and helical sliding track with latching grooves. The adjustment part is formed as a wheel segment with bearing pins. The valve includes a valve rod with an angled end. The angled end of the valve rod is engageable in the latching grooves so as to hold the rod and valve in place.
