Publication number: 20100206420Abstract: There is described a flow pipe (10) of metal for use in a flow meter for fluids, particularly multiphase fluids. The flow pipe has a main run (7) and one or more laterally extending channels (t) of small diameter relative to the main run. The internal surface of the main run that defines the flow area, is cladded with a corrosion and wear resistant metallic material (6) different from the metallic material of the remainder of the flow pipe. The material that encloses and defines the laterally extending channels (t) is of the same metallic material as the internal surface of the flow pipe. Consequently a continuous and integrated internal cladding is formed in the main run so that a fluid in the flow pipe (10) is in contact with the corrosion and wear resistant material only.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2008Publication date: August 19, 2010Applicant: Roxar Flow Measurement ASInventor: Johnny Jakobsen

Patent number: 7578203Abstract: This invention relates to a system for measuring solid particles, e.g. sand, in a fluid flow in a pipe, comprising at least one acoustic sensor for registering acoustic signals generated from collisions between particles and a surface. The pipe comprises a constriction through which the fluid flow passes, and that at least one of said acoustic sensors are positioned in relation to said constriction, and on a surface facing toward the flow so as to receive acoustic signals resulting from collisions between particles and the surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2005Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Roxar Flow Measurement ASInventors: Morten Ivar Andersen, Morten Brandt

Patent number: 7481118Abstract: An apparatus for obtaining information on the content and flow rate in a fluid flow, e.g. a mixture of oil and water flowing in, for example, a pipe, including means for conveying a flowing fluid, means for generating a differential pressure in said fluid, and means for measuring said differential pressure. Means for measuring a capacitance are provided including at least one electrode, and the differential pressure generating means is arranged substantially at the same position along the pipe as the electrode of the capacitance measuring means. Thereby the differential pressure generating means effectively defines an earth electrode for said capacitance measuring means. Means are provided for combining a result from said differential pressure measuring means with a result from said capacitance measuring means to thereby obtain information on the content and flow rate in a fluid flow.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2006Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Assignee: Roxar Flow Measurement ASInventor: Ebbe Gustaf Nyfors

Patent number: 7293471Abstract: The present invention is directed to a flow meter that obtains the individual flow rates of gas, liquid hydrocarbons, and water in a predominantly gas-containing flowing fluid mixture. The flow meter comprises a water content meter (7) that provides a signal representing a measure of the water content of said fluid. The flow meter also comprises a double differential pressure generating (3) and measuring (4) structure, denoted a DDP-unit (2), that provides two measurement signals (6A and 6B) representing two independent values of differential pressure (DP) in said fluid (1). In addition to the above, the meter also comprises a signal processing unit (8) having inputs (9A-C) for receiving the measurement signals and the water content signal, and a calculation module (10) which calculates values representing the volumetric flow rates of said gas, liquid hydrocarbons and water in said fluid.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2005Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Roxar Flow Measurement ASInventors: Øystein Lund Bø, Ebbe Gustaf Nyfors, Rune Sørhus
