Abstract: A wellbore packer can be deployed and easily retrieved within a wellbore of vertical or horizontal orientation or in a transition orientation. The packer includes a bottom sub on a downhole portion and a shear sub within an inner cavity of the bottom sub. The shear sub has a depression in a wall of the shear sub, which aligns in a set position of the packer with a threaded hole through a wall of the bottom sub. The packer includes a body to extend from an uphole portion of the packer to the shear sub, the body secured to the shear sub. The threaded hole supports variable shear strength shear screws where, in response to increased uphole tensile force on the body, the shear sub is to shear the shear screw and move uphole relative to the bottom sub, and unset the wellbore packer from the set position.
Abstract: A wellbore apparatus includes a carrier apparatus to deploy downhole in a wellbore. The carrier apparatus includes multiple coupons of different degradable materials housed in the carrier. The multiple coupons degrade at different rates based on the difference in materials. The difference in degradation rates indicates specific performance of the material composition in the wellbore environment.
Abstract: A contingency measure for wireline conveyed installation methods, generally for oil and gas completions, and more specifically in plug and perforation completions. A fracturing (frac) plug has a ported sleeve and a seat that allows a valve mechanism to seat against the apparatus with the application of fluid flow. The plug allows for fluid flow to bypass the valve and flow through the frac plug, to allow pump down operations as long as needed. Once downhole operations are complete, increased fluid pressure on the plug pushes the valve past the bypass ports and plugs the flow through the inner diameter of the frac plug, closing off the fluid flow path through the frac plug. Thus, selective setting of the valve allows for downhole fluid flow as long as needed, and then can hydraulically isolate the region above the frac plug from the region below the frac plug.
