  • Patent number: 9679455
Abstract: An integrated security arrangement is implemented in a variety of embodiments. In one such embodiment an integrated security arrangement includes a plurality of intrusion sensors that sense an intrusion in a target area, a motion sensor, and an image-capture device that is responsive to the motion sensor. When the image-capture device is enabled it captures images of the target area in response to movement in the target area as indicated by the motion sensor. The integrated security arrangement also includes a mapping database that contains data used to associate one or more of the plurality of intrusion sensors with the image-capture device. A user configures the mapping database to select at least one of the intrusion sensors for enabling the image-capture device. The integrated security arrangement further includes a control unit that enables the image-capture device in response to the selected intrusion sensor as configured in the mapping database.

  • Patent number: 9472067
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to security-based apparatuses and methods. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, an apparatus includes a presence sensor that senses the presence of an individual, and an image sensor that captures an image of the individual in response to the sensed presence, and that provides the captured image as image data. A user authorization circuit identifies the individual as being authorized or unauthorized based upon the provided image data and stored image data for authorized individuals. An electromechanical device operates with the user authorization circuit to deploy one or more deterrents in the vicinity of the individual, in response to the user authorization circuit identifying the individual as being unauthorized.

  • Patent number: 8714449
Abstract: Security systems and methods are implemented using a variety of devices and methods. According to one such implementation, a controller arms or disarms a security system responsive to a contactless card reader. The contactless card reader includes a circuit for wirelessly interfacing with the controller, a battery circuit, and a sensor for detecting a contactless card. The card reader further includes a power-control circuit, responsive to the sensor, to control use of the battery circuit, and a coil for energizing the contactless card in response to the contactless card being detected by the sensor. The contactless card transmits data to the contactless card reader when the contactless card is energized. Responsive to the data transmitted by the contactless card, the contactless card reader wirelessly interfaces with the controller, which arms or disarms the security system based on the data transmitted by the card.

  • Patent number: 8081073
Abstract: Security systems and methods are implemented using a variety of devices and methods. According to one such implementation, a security system uses a controller to communicate with security-monitoring devices and has an integrated image-capture device with a circuit board structure with an angle-setting support article, a circuit board with a nonadjustable surface, and data-communicating conductors. A camera is secured to the nonadjustable surface and is directed at a first angle relative to the nonadjustable surface. A motion detector is secured to the nonadjustable surface and is directed at a second angle relative to the nonadjustable surface of the circuit board. The support article sets the first angle relative to the second angle for capturing both images and motion in a target area. A data-communication circuit communicates data from the camera and the motion detector and wirelessly communicates the data to the controller. A solar circuit provides power to the device.

  • Patent number: 7835343
Abstract: A building-security method is implemented in a variety of embodiments. In one such embodiment, the building-security method is implemented for bidirectional, wireless communication between a control panel device and peripheral devices. Each of the devices includes a wireless communication circuit to effect wireless communications. The control panel wirelessly sends synchronization information to at least one of the peripheral devices. Power consumption is reduced for at least one of the wireless communication circuits by coordinating a communications time interval and a selected channel for communication between the control panel device and the peripheral device to effect wireless communications between the control panel and the peripheral device. The selected channel is one channel from a sequence of channels used for wireless communications between the control panel device and the peripheral devices.

  • Patent number: 7463145
Abstract: According to one example embodiment, an integrated security arrangement detects unwanted intruders in a facility. The arrangement includes an intrusion sensor to sense an intrusion at a target area of a facility, a second sensor to sense movement, an image-capture device, and a base unit. The image-capture device captures images in response to an intrusion indication from the intrusion sensor and in response to a movement indication from the second sensor. The base unit integrates a direction of view of the second sensor and of the image-capture device, thereby directing the second sensor to sense in the target area in which the images are captured by the image-capture device.
