Patent number: 6767783Abstract: A method of making vertical diodes and transistors in SiC is provided. The method according to the invention uses a mask (e.g., a mask that has been previously used for etching features into the device) for selective epitaxial growth or selective ion implantation. In this manner, the gate and base regions of static induction transistors and bipolar junction transistors can be formed in a self-aligned process. A method of making planar diodes and planar edge termination structures (e.g., guard rings) is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2002Date of Patent: July 27, 2004Assignee: Mississippi State University-Research and Technology Corporation (RTC)Inventors: Jeffrey B. Publication number: 20030094462Abstract: A self-facing merchandise pusher system for use in retail stores. Numerous products in a retail store are merchandised on shelves and a biased pusher is used to urge products toward the front edge of the shelf. The width of the pusher corresponds generally to the width of the narrowest product to be pushed. A removable divider extends vertically between each pusher. When pushing products that are multiples of the width of the narrowest product, dividers may be removed to create a larger pushing surface. Removing a divider locks two adjacent pushers together thereby causing the two pushers to push in unison and prevents product from slipping between the adjacent pushers.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2003Publication date: May 22, 2003Applicant: RTC Industries, Inc.Inventor: Stephen Neal Hardy

Patent number: 6503782Abstract: A method and device produced for design, construction, and use of integrated circuits in wide bandgap semiconductors, including methods for fabrication of n-channel and p-channel junction field effect transistors on a single wafer or die, such that the produced devices may have pinchoff voltages of either positive or negative polarities. A first layer of either p-type or n-type is formed as a base. An alternating, channel layer of either n-type or p-type is then formed, followed by another layer of the same type as the first layer. Etching is used to provide contacts for the gates, source, and drain of the device. In one variation, pinchoff voltage is controlled via dopant level and thickness the channel region. In another variation, pinchoff voltage is controlled by variation of dopant level across the channel layer; and in another variation, pinchoff voltage is controlled by both thickness and variation of dopant level.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2001Date of Patent: January 7, 2003Assignee: Mississippi State University Research and Technology Corporation (RTC)Inventors: Jeffrey Blaine Casady, Benjamin Blalock, Stephen E. Publication number: 20020008451Abstract: A plasma source comprises a thermionic emitter (2) heated by an induction coil (7), which also provides radiofrequency energy within an electrically insulated cylindrical former (1). A cylindrical anode (10) is concentric with emitter (2) and axially displaced therefrom, generating a potential difference between anode (10) and emitter (2). The potential difference between anode (2) and ground and axial magnetic fields causes the plasma to be extracted from the source. Emitter (2) is held at negative potential via a conductive support (5). Process gas is introduced near emitter (2) and a secondary gas injected in the anode space. Radiofrequency excitation of emitter (2) generates electrons via thermionic and field effects, resulting in efficient plasma generation. Both electron generation effects contribute to a broad energy spectrum of electrons, providing effective neutralisation of the plasma.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2001Publication date: January 24, 2002Applicant: Satis RTC Photonics System Ltd.Inventor: Desmond Gibson

Patent number: 6305559Abstract: A shelf organizer including an elongated rail member defining a channel section. The rail member includes inwardly extending legs to which are attached longitudinally extending rubber beads. A connector forming part of a shelf divider is disposed in the channel section and when the divider is located in a vertical position it will be retained in position by the beads. The divider can be readily twisted out of engagement with the beads and quickly moved to a different location with minimal effort to vary the widths of the bind whenever desired. A single bead secured to the upper or lower legs may be used in place of two beads. Also the mounting flange may include an integral portion forming a ledge that engages the bead to help retain the divider in a vertical position.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2000Date of Patent: October 23, 2001Assignee: RTC Industries, INCInventor: Stephen N. Patent number: 6290074Abstract: A storage and display rack for supporting and displaying large substantially cylindrical objects, such as five gallon plastic water bottles. The storage and display rack is fabricated from one or more shelves, supported by a plurality of tubular legs. Where the storage and display rack includes more than one shelf, a plurality of tubular legs is employed to vertically separate and support successive levels of shelves. Each shelf is provided with one or more inclined slots for receiving a bottle. Each slot is provided with a back wall, having an inner resiliently support back wall member, and a plurality of ribs for raising the bottle above the bottom web of the slot. The resiliently supported back wall member is fabricated for resistance to fatigue failure. The ribs are provided to permit insertion and removal of the bottle(s) with reduced friction.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: RTC Industries, Inc.Inventors: Max Syvuk, Stephen Hardy

Patent number: 5897535Abstract: A non-contaminating catheter includes a hollow tube having an axial lumen extending along the length thereof, and an elongated, tubular, flexible membrane disposed within the lumen. The leading end of the membrane is circumferentially folded back over the leading edge of the tube and fixed to a guide assembly. As the catheter is inserted into a patient, the membrane is drawn through the tube and out the leading edge of the tube. Once the catheter is fully inserted, the membrane circumscribes the tube; thus, contact between the tube and the patient is substantially, if not entirely, prevented during insertion of the catheter over the length of the membrane. More particularly, the membrane is laid out as the catheter is urged along the anatomical canal and thus remains interposed between the exterior wall of the catheter and the patient's internal organs (e.g., the urethra).Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1996Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: RTC, Inc.Inventors: Roberto Feliziani, Marc L.
