    Abstract: An art surface and a method for preparing the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, a coating is disposed on a thermoplastic compatible surface of a substrate. The coating includes a reaction product of a thermoplastic, aluminum oxide, and acetone. Further, the coating is able to accept one or more artistic media such as acrylic, chalk, charcoal, colored pencil, conte, dyes, egg tempera, oil, pastel, or water color, for example.
