Abstract: A system is disclosed for managing waste services performed by a service vehicle. The system may have a locator mounted to the service vehicle and configured to generate a location signal, a sensor mounted at a waste opening of the service vehicle and configured to generate a receptacle signal, and a processor in communication with the locator and the receptacle sensor. The processor may be programmed to determine, based on the location signal, operation of the service vehicle in a service mode and, during operation in the service mode, automatically detect, based on the receptacle signal, existence of a waste receptacle at the waste opening. The processor may also be programmed to responsively generate an electronic output based on the detection.

Abstract: A municipal solid waste or recycling facility item of interest identification, collection, and remediation system, controller, and computer program provide identification, collection, and remediation for items of interest included in waste at a municipal solid waste or recycling facility. The one or more controllers monitor data streams from sensors and/or image stream(s) from image capturing device(s) deposited on one or more mobile autonomous units for recyclable articles or other items of interest that are important for the operation of waste disposal sites. The controllers recognize items within the image stream(s), based on the library, an image of an item of interest included in the waste materials. The one or more controllers generate instructions for the autonomous mobile units for the identification, collection, and remediation of items of interest.

Abstract: A waste service management system, method, and computer program product improve waste services by responding to air quality that is outside and inside a waste service vehicle. A controller monitors at least one exterior air quality sensor that is mounted to, and exposed to air exterior to, the waste service vehicle. The controller monitors at least one interior air quality sensor that is mounted to the waste service vehicle and exposed to air interior to a waste hauling body that is one of carried and attached to the waste service vehicle. The controller compares measurement levels of exterior and interior airborne chemical constituents to one or more corresponding air quality thresholds. The controller presents a notification on a user interface device indicating any exceedance of the air quality threshold and an associated origin of one of the exterior air and the interior air.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for managing services at a customer location. The system may have at least one offboard utility meter, a communication device, and a controller in communication with the at least one offboard utility meter via the communication device. The controller may be configured to receive information from the at least one offboard utility meter during a waste service activity at the customer location by a waste service vehicle and to determine based on the information from the at least one offboard utility meter a fee associated with at least one utility service provided at the customer location. The controller may also be configured to generate at least one invoice for the waste service activity and for the fee associated with the at least one utility service.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for monitoring waste collected by a service vehicle. The system may include a lift actuator configured to cause lifting of the waste, a power takeoff driven by a powertrain of the service vehicle to power the lift actuator, and a sensor configured to generate a speed signal indicative of a speed of the powertrain. The system may also include an output device, and a controller in communication with the sensor and the output device. The controller may be configured to receive the speed signal from the sensor, determine an amount of waste lifted by the lift actuator based on the speed signal, and relay the amount of waste to the output device.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for managing waste services. The system may have a locating device configured to generate a signal indicative of a location of a service vehicle on a roadway, a communication device, and a controller in communication with the locating and communication devices. The controller may be configured to determine a side of the roadway at which a first target location is currently being serviced by the service vehicle, and to determine based on the signal from the locating device a proximity of the service vehicle to a second target location at which the waste services are to be performed. The second target location may be on the same side of the roadway as the first target location. The controller may also be configured to automatically provide via the communicating device an estimated time of arrival to a customer corresponding to the second target location, based on the proximity.

The controller recognizes within the image stream(s), based on the library, an image of a environmental contaminant item included in the waste articles. The controller generates an environmental contaminant item record that aggregates time, location, and image data that establish that the origin of the recognized environmental contaminant item was the haul vehicle. The controller transmits an alert to the prohibited waste remediation system based on the recognized environmental contaminant item record.
