Patent number: 4855712Abstract: The method and apparatus provides an improved system for monitoring air brakes of a motor vehicle and providing the operator with a signal when brake adjustment or repair is required. A permanent magnet is mounted to a slack adjuster or push rod for air brakes of the vehicle and the magnet is moveable with the rod. A housing containing a magnetically actuated switch, a power supply and an audible single generator is fixedly mounted relative to the push rod. As the magnet on the push rod is moved within a predetermined distance of the fixed housing, the magnetically actuated switch actuates the audible signal generator to produce a warning signal indicating that brake adjustment is required. The system has its own electrical power supply which operates independently from other electrical systems in the vehicle and therefore does not depend upon the electrical power of the vehicle itself for proper operation.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1987Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: Rudkin-Wiley CorporationInventors: Nathaniel C. Patent number: 4784424Abstract: The rooftop drag reducing device comprises a top and a bottom and may be mounted to the cab of trucks for semi-trailers at the factory. The device may then be conveniently collapsed with the top fitting inside the bottom when multiple trucks are shipped with the second and third truck, for example, having their front wheels mounted to the fifth wheel of the truck in front of them. Since the drag reducing device has had its height reduced it will pass under low bridges. The device is initially integrally molded in one piece and cut into the top and bottom portions along a oblique cut line step. The top may be left connected to the bottom at the front to form a living hinge. Alternatively, a piano hinge may be used to connect the top and bottom portions at the front thereof. Bolts along the sides are used to hold the top in its upright position. These bolts pass through stepped side flanges which strengthen the device. The rear of the top is closed to form a rigid box-like structure to resist sway.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1986Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Rudkin-Wiley CorporationInventor: Nathaniel C. Patent number: 4257640Abstract: A drag reducer for a gap in a land vehicle moving through air which consists of a retractable or articulated baffle, spanning approximately the entire distance of the gap. The drag reducer can be used on all land vehicles and is readily adaptable for use on railroad box cars, truck semi-trailers, full trailers in tandem and vehicles towed by cars. The drag reducer can take the form of a fin mounted rigidly or with articulated joint or flexible material to allow for movement between the leading and trailing vehicles. It may also be of a retractable nature, such as an accordian arrangement, a roll-up screen, an inflatable fin, a folding plate, etc.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1978Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Assignee: Rudkin-Wiley CorporationInventor: Nathaniel C. Patent number: 4084846Abstract: By providing a completely adjustable support system for securely mounting drag reducing equipment to the roof of a land transport vehicle forward of a drag producing surface with the support system secured to the roof in a configuration which allows the drag reducing equipment to be positionable in a plurality of orientations forward of the drag producing surface with the support system adjustable for mounting to any roof, a universally adjustable drag reducing equipment support system is achieved. In the preferred embodiment, the universally adjustable support system incorporates elongated support members, support struts and adjustable brackets which have a plurality of securement positions for complete adjustable interconnection of the support system to any vehicle regardless of the vehicle's configuration and secure support of the drag reducing equipment in any desired position.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1976Date of Patent: April 18, 1978Assignee: Rudkin-Wiley CorporationInventors: Nathaniel C. Patent number: 3984950Abstract: A single "L"-shaped modular building unit comprises an integral end wall and ceiling and incorporates an outwardly depending flange peripherally surrounding the entire modular unit. The overall ceiling length is equal to twice the ceiling width. The outwardly depending peripherally surrounding flange is rectangular along its exposed edge to provide a modular unit which can be easily interconnected with similar units in any desired arrangement. Along the interior facing edge of the flange, the overall rectangular shape incorporates radii of curvature at the ceiling-wall interface for additional aesthetic purposes. The interconnecting portion between the wall and the ceiling is a saddle-shaped curve extending both longitudinally and laterally substantially the entire length of the ceiling and down a substantial portion of the wall.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1973Date of Patent: October 12, 1976Assignee: Rudkin-Wiley CorporationInventors: Mark L.
