    Abstract: Provided in a portable lamp is a cathode-heatable fluorescent bulb which is supplied from a rechargeable battery. For the purpose of charging, the lamp is coupled with a charging device situated in a region which is not at risk. The charging device is provided with separate connections for the charging voltage and for the application of a heating and starting voltage. At the beginning of the recharging phase, the battery current supply circuit for the bulb is interrupted. When removing the lamp the battery current supply circuit is closed, a heating voltage made available from the charging device and applied to the cathode of the bulb. Thereafter, the starting voltage is developed in a starting device and applied to the bulb electrodes. Only after striking of the bulb is the lamp electrically decoupled from the charging device. Starting with preheating is thus effected by means of the charging device. The lamp includes an incandescent bulb with a separate reflector.

    Abstract: A practically isothermal temperature distribution of the reactor contents is obtained, especially for high temperature and pressurized hydrogenation reactors operating in the sump-phase by a hydrogenation gas passing over the outer region of the reaction chamber, so that the hydrogenation gas cools the reaction in the chamber. Additionally, the reaction heat which is extracted by the hydrogenation gas is used to heat the reaction components at a stage in the hydrogenation process. The major portion of the reaction heat is used to heat charges, preferably for the reactors, which charges contain no appreciable amounts of solid material. These charges, preferably comprising hydrogenation gas, preferably pass through a jacket space between the reaction chambers and the external portion of the reactors, which external portions preferably make contact with the atmosphere.

    Abstract: A cyclone arrangement for cleaning gas from a gas generator for gasifying coal which is exhausted at high pressures. The invention proposes that the cyclone arrangement for the cleaning of crude gas includes at least two cyclones connected in parallel on their input sides, which cyclones can be turned on and off individually. Thereby a dry cleaning of the crude gas can be performed with only a slight temperature loss. The quantity of gas corresponding to the optimum cleaning efficiency can be adjusted to the quantity of gas either discharged from the gas generator or actually required for the pressurization of the steam generator by adjusting the number of cyclones put into operation, without the need for the inclusion of buffer capacities. The gas generator comprises a pressurized fixed bed reactor.

    Abstract: The invention provides an improvement to a process for producing a diesel fuel from a medium heavy oil obtained from coal. The invention increases the amount of medium oil which can be used to produce diesel fuel while keeping the total yield of oil from the coal about the same. Thus, the fraction of the medium oil recovered is greater without altering the total yield of oil from the coal, and now amounts to about 80 to 85 percent of the total oil yield. Accordingly, the amount of light oil derived in this process becomes correspondingly smaller. Thus, the total oil yield is increased by about 4 to 6 percent compared with previously obtained results.
