Patents Assigned to S.A. Constructions Ferroviaires et Metalliques
  • Patent number: 5081934
Abstract: A rail vehicle guide and support arrangement including a bogie having independent wheels, has a crossbeam fastened to a vehicle body, so as to be perpendicular to the vertical plane containing the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, in proximity to one end of the body. Two longitudinal members each equipped with at least two wheels are mounted on an articulation member carried by the crossbeam on each side of the vertical lane, and connected to each other by a brace which is mounted on a ball joint. Each longitudinal member is provided with an articulation and each is composed of a longitudinal frame member articulated to the crossbeam and extended by a directional arm which is articulated, about a substantially vertical pivot, to the longitudinal frame member and is equipped at its free end on a wheel. Each directional arm is connected to the brace by rods forming a deformable quadrilateral which ensures correct orientation of the wheels while traversing curves.

  • Patent number: 4459919
Abstract: A supporting and guiding device for railway vehicles has at least four wheels 1, 2 mounted on a support intended to be fixed to the body 3 of a vehicle near one end thereof. The device includes a cross bar 8 maintained perpendicular to the vertical plane containing the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and two longitudinal beams 5 which each carry at least two wheels. In use the beams extend longitudinally of the body on both sides of the vertical plane, and they are connected to each other by a rod 12 mounted on ball and socket joints 13.The longitudinal beams are hinged (9) to the common cross bar such that the wheels carried by the beams may become oriented in order to follow the curves of the track rails 6 and to be moved in order to pass over inequalities or unevennesses of said track.

  • Patent number: 4454819
Abstract: A system for automatically guiding a vehicle provided with pneumatically tired wheels comprises first and second rollers 7, 7' which follow a rail 8 extending in the path of movement of the vehicle. The first roller is supported by a fork-shaft 9, 10 extending in the direction of movement of the vehicle and capable of oscillating vertically about a horizontal axis 11. It is fastened to a turret 12 connected to at least one coupling bar 17 hinged to a steering lever 6. The second roller is supported by a second support arm extending in the opposite direction, which may also oscillate vertically about a horizontal axis and pivot horizontally independently of the turret, to a limited extent. The vehicle can be guided alternately either by a mechanical type of automatic system, used when the vehicle moves on an appropriate infrastructure, or manually by the driver, when the vehicle moves autonomously.
