Abstract: A slide mechanism for providing non-binding adjustment of the spacing between the components of an elongated structural member such as the vertical and horizontal frame members of a door or window frame for accommodating different buck widths during installation. The slide mechanism comprises a channel member and a tongue member adapted to slideably engage one another in loosely fitting relation to preclude binding during width adjustment. Each frame member is preferably provided with at least two such sliding mechanisms of which preferably one provides a dimpled channel member for assuring precise transverse registry of the frame components. By dimpling only one such channel member, a degree of non-binding angular or rotational motion between frame components is provided to facilitate easy installation.
Abstract: A spring pivot joint comprises two face plates with heavy serrations or ribs between them, both sandwiched between Belville springs or spring washers, the washers being held in a strongly stressed condition by a hollow rivet. The face plates have integral wings or tabs extending radially beyond the washers for attachment to the companion mannequin parts to be jointed. Since the rivets are hollow, a simple rod can extend through a plurality of them to hold them in coaxial alignment while being attached to the jointed mannequin parts.
Abstract: A two part connector with one of said parts providing an elongated cylindrical bore and the other a pin with a flared end, and with an expansible compression ring on the pin urged by a compression spring outwardly of said flared end to grip said bore.
Abstract: A security bar lock for a door is neatly encased in an elongated section of trim molding. The bar lock projects behind the edge of the door and is retracted therefrom. A sturdy but compact fulcrum pin mounting transmits heavy forces to the frame structure itself.
