Patent number: 11053652Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for providing watering or non-watering of a specific area of soil through a first plurality of irrigation valves (42). Specific irrigation parameters are measured at the specific area of soil through a second plurality of field sensors (54). A controller unit (30) is interconnected to a third plurality of control units (18). Each control unit is connected to a specific irrigation valve and/or a specific field sensor. A type declaration providing communication under a second communication protocol is transmitted from the controller unit to the third plurality of control units using a first communications protocol. A second set of instructions are transmitted from the controller unit to the third plurality of control units using a second communications protocol. A first set of instructions are transmitted from the controller unit to the third plurality of control units using the first communications protocol.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2018Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignee: S-RAIN CONTROL A/SInventor: Tom Nohr Christiansen

Patent number: 8352088Abstract: A system for optimizing power to a valve core movable between first and second positions includes a controller providing a control signal to the core. With the core in the first position, the control signal has a hold voltage, and the controller measures a first self inductance. The control signal is provided with an inrush voltage to move the core to the second position, and with the hold voltage to retain it there. With the core in the second position, the controller measures a second self inductance, decreases the hold voltage, and measures a third self inductance representing the core's actual position. The controller determines, by comparing either the first or second self inductance with the third self inductance, whether the core is in the first or second position. If the core is in the second position, the decreased hold voltage is applied for retaining the core there.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2007Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: S-Rain Control A/SInventor: Tom N. Patent number: 7421317Abstract: A controlling and monitoring system for irrigation of localized areas of soil includes a water pipeline, a plurality of controllable irrigation valves, a plurality of field sensors measuring specific irrigation parameters, and a plurality of localized irrigation control units. Each of the control units has a sensor decoder connected to a specific one of the field sensors and a line decoder connected to a specific one of the irrigation valves. The system further includes a controller and power supply unit that applies a first alternating DC voltage signal to a two-wire cable interconnecting the controller and power supply unit and the control units. The cable provides power from the controller and power supply unit to each of the control units. The controller and power supply unit transmits schedules of instructions to the control units, and receives the irrigation parameters from the control units, through the cable.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2005Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: S-Rain Control A/SInventor: Tom N.
