Patents Assigned to Saab Dynamics AB
  • Patent number: 11692800
Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety and arming unit for initiation of underwater charges, comprising: a housing; a detonator; an interrupter slidable within the housing from a first position in which a firing chain from the detonator to a charge is interrupted, to a second position, in which the firing chain is complete; a first member configured to cooperate with the housing and the interrupter to form a first interlock, wherein, upon the first member being in a first position, said interlock locks said interrupter in said first position, and upon the first member being in a second position, said interrupter is free to slide relative to said first member; a second member configured to cooperate with the housing and the interrupter to form a second interlock, mechanically independent of said first interlock, wherein, upon the second member being in a first position, the interlock locks said interrupter in said first position, and upon the second member being in a second position, said interrupter is fre

  • Patent number: 11679850
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for attaching a device to an object, comprising: an attachment device for attaching the device to an object, the attachment device having a trigger for triggering activation of the attachment device; a releasable coupling device for releasably coupling the attachment device to a deployment system. The releasable coupling device comprising: a housing; a trigger system, configured to trigger the attachment device trigger; and a retaining system, configured to releasably retain the attachment device. The releasable coupling device is configured such that: in a first configuration, the trigger system is in a disarmed state; in a second configuration, the trigger system is in an armed state, such that movement of the attachment device relative to the housing of the releasable coupling device activates the trigger of the attachment device; and in a third configuration, the retaining system releases the attachment device.

  • Patent number: 6419185
Abstract: An arrangement in a missile and a method for guiding the missile towards a moving target, for example, an aircraft, wherein the missile has information on its own position, velocity vector, and future velocity characteristic. The missile continuously receives information on the position and velocity vector of the target. The arrangement and method operate such that, a point of interception, at which the missile is expected to strike the target, is calculated from the information on the missile and the target, and a velocity vector of the missile is directed towards the predicted point of interception, which is continuously predicted on the basis of an assumption as to the future movement of the target, and a calculation of the time to impact.

  • Patent number: 6382554
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement and a method for guiding a missile (1) towards a target (2). The missile has information on its own position, velocity vector and future velocity profile and continuously receives information on the position and velocity vector of the target. The invention is characterized in that from the information on the missile and the target a point of interception (A) is predicted at which the missile is expected to strike the target. A flight time is then calculated which indicates the time that it will take for the missile to travel to the predicted point of interception (A). In addition a fictitious point of interception (B) is calculated which is situated at a higher altitude than the predicted point of interception and the distance of which to that point is related to the calculated flight time. Finally the missile velocity vector is directed towards the said fictitious point.

  • Patent number: 6114990
Abstract: A device for simulating in real-time a path of an object in a three-dimensional coordinate system. The device includes at least a first unit and a second unit each provided with a GPS receiver for receiving position and timing signals respectively from at least four GPS satellites, a transmitter/receiver for communication between the first unit and the second unit in the VHF or UHF frequencies, and a communication computer having memory capacity and providing a connection between the GPS receiver and the transmitter/receiver. A simulation computer is included at least with the first unit. The simulation computer communicates with the communication computer and simulates with an event driven protocol a path in the coordinate system of the object and communicating the path to the second unit. The communication computer controls the communication through the transmitter/receiver according to an STDMA method.
